  • Publication number: 20230211148
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for inducing a controlled fluid transport in a central nervous system, CNS, and/or in a cerebrospinal fluid, CSF system, of a patient by electro-osmosis, EO, via two or more electrodes placed at selected locations on the patients head, comprising receiving EO information, the EO information being at least indicative of fluid transport response resulting from application of particular electric potentials and/or currents at particular electrode locations on the patient's head based on a patient-specific three-dimensional head model, receiving a fluid source location within the patient's head, selecting a set of electrode locations using the EO information and the fluid source location, placing the two or more electrodes in electrical communication with said CNS/CSF-system, each electrode being placed at one location of the selected set of electrode locations, and controlling an application of selected electric potentials and/or electric currents to said electrodes, wher

  • Patent number: 11589630
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a protective device (100) for protecting a head from impact, the device 100 comprising a shell (110) substantially formed in a dome-shape and having a first outer edge (1101); an inner layer (120) substantially formed in the dome-shape disposed within the shell (110), having an second outer edge (1201) and arranged at a gap distance in a direction of in the surface normal of the shell (110), at least one connecting member (130) interconnecting the shell (110) and inner layer (120) by interconnecting the first outer edge (1101) and the second outer edge (1201), an intermediary structure (140) comprising a plurality of deformable elements (1401) arranged in a single layer, wherein each of the deformable elements (1401), in an undeformed state, is arranged in simultaneous contact with the shell (110), the inner layer (120) and at least one other deformable element of the deformable elements (1401).

  • Publication number: 20190232601
Abstract: A protective material/structure is provided that reduces the risk of injury for a person after contact with said material/structure, and is based on a structure where an inner and outer shell can move relative to each other. The shells are separated by spikes or thin beams and the outer shell covers or envelops the spikes. The spikes or beams are constructed so that they permit displacement of the outer shell relative to the inner shell in the event of an oblique impact against the protective material/structure. The spikes or beams are designed to be thin/slim and can be made of flexible polymer materials such as plastics, rubber or fibers. This enables the spikes to give way after a tangential/rotational impact and thereby efficiently reduce the negative effects of such an impact on the brain.

  • Publication number: 20090292198
Abstract: A non-invasive method for measuring intracranial pressure (ICP) is provided. A numerical model such as finite element model is developed in order to calculate the ICP, strain or stress for patients who suffers from hematoma, edema or tumor. The method can further provide local maximum principle strain that can provide information about possible subsequent brain injury, such as diffuse axonal injury, in sensitive region of the brain. Based on computer tomography or magnetic resonance images an individual diagnosis and treatment plan can be formed for each patient.
