  • Publication number: 20210015996
Abstract: An inventive drive system for an insulin pump includes a motor configured to rotate at a predetermined revolution speed. It also includes a gear box configured for acting on a piston of the insulin pump to thereby convert a rotation of the motor into a continuous linear motion of the piston via a threaded rod mechanically coupled to the piston. The continuous linear motion of the piston determines a basal rate of insulin delivery. Additionally, a mechanical displacer is provided to act on the piston by adding a mechanical displacement of the threaded rod to the continuous linear motion of the piston, such as during a time then a bolus of insulin is to be delivered in addition to the basal rate. The threaded rod is mechanically coupled to the piston independent of the basal rate. An insulin pump and a method for driving an insulin pump are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8398665
Abstract: Lancing system for withdrawing body fluid having a lancing element and a lancing instrument, which includes a lancing drive, by which a lancing movement of a lancing element is driven. The lancing drive comprises a drive source and a transmission having a housing coupling mechanism which includes at least two transmission links, a housing bearing, and a coupling element adapted for coupling a lancing element thereto. A lancing depth limiting stop is positioned in the housing so that a stop surface of the lancing element contacts the lancing depth limiting stop during the forward phase of the lancing movement. The housing coupling mechanism comprises a length compensation device to ensure a distance adaptation of the spacing between the lancing element and a housing bearing of the housing coupling mechanism during contact of the stops and further movement of the lancing drive.

  • Patent number: 8075496
Abstract: The present invention provides an integrated measuring device that includes a blood collection system for collecting blood for diagnostic purposes. The blood collection system comprises an electric motor which provides energy for propelling a lancet. The blood collection system comprises a mechanical energy store in which the electric energy that is converted by the motor is stored in the form of mechanical energy. The use of a mechanical energy store allows the use of known mechanical drive elements. The blood collection system can also be electrically activated and is thus easy to use for the operator. The motor can also be coupled to another system component, such as a test strip or lancet drum, to operate it.

  • Publication number: 20080033469
Abstract: A blood withdrawal system for producing blood from a body part for diagnostic purposes, comprising a housing with a lancet guide capable of guiding a lancet on a predetermined puncturing path and a lancet drive for driving a puncturing movement of a lancet on the predetermined path. The lancet drive comprises a drive rotor driven by a drive spring and rotates about an axis during the puncturing movement, and a coupling mechanism which converts the rotational movement of the drive rotor into a puncturing movement, wherein the lancet is moved during a forward phase of the puncturing movement in the puncturing direction until its tip penetrates into the body part to create a wound and is retracted from the skin during a retraction phase of the puncturing movement. The coupling mechanism includes a translation element coupled to the lancet and guided by a guide on a movement path.

  • Publication number: 20070293882
Abstract: The present invention provides a pricking device for taking blood comprising a contact element for being placed into contact with an extraction surface, an actuating element for manual actuation of the pricking device, a pricking element which is used to perforate the extraction surface, the pricking element being arranged in the contact element in such a way that it does not protrude from the contact element before the pricking procedure is initiated, and in such a way that a defined pricking depth is obtained during the pricking procedure. The pricking device further includes a return spring for automatically retracting the pricking element into the contact element after a pricking procedure has been completed and a locking mechanism for locking the pricking device after completion of a single pricking procedure and thereby preventing additional use of the pricking device.
