  • Patent number: 5388929
Abstract: A method of renovating sewers or pipes where an elongate plastic strip (30) is spirally wound in the sewer or pipe, the strip having joint formations (32) along each side so that a joint formation (33) on one side of the strip will butt against the joint formation (34) along the other side of an adjacent strip and a joining strip ( 50 ) is spirally wound into engagement with the adjacent joint formations to lock the windings of the strip into place. Grout is injected into the spaces between the liner and the wall of the sewer or pipe to secure the liner in position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 1992
Date of Patent: February 14, 1995
    Assignee: Danby of North America

  • Patent number: 5102263
Abstract: A liner for large diameter pipes is formed from lengths of PVC panels (10) which are cut to length and placed around the wall of the pipe, the ends (19) of the panels being butt-joined by joining strips (20). Each panel (10) has a formation along one side complementary with a formation along the other side so that adjacent panels (10) can be clipped together to form a liner extending from manhole to manhole along the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4963211
Abstract: A machine winds tubes from strip (41) of the type having side flanges (43) with intermediate flanges (44) between, the strip (41) being fed into an annular space (21) between a cylindrical outer sleeve (18) fixed to a base plate (10) and a cylindrical driven core (20) rotatable coaxially within the sleeve (18). A series of pressure rollers (37) are mounted along a helical path on the sleeve (18), each entering the annular space (21) by way of an opening (37) in the sleeve, one such opening (37) being an inlet opening for the strip (41). The rollers (37) press the strip (41) into frictional engagement with the rotating core (20) and guide it to form a helix with closely adjacent convolutions. Also fed into the annular space (21) is a longitudinally recessed locking strip (47) which the rollers (37) press into locking engagement with the adjacent side flanges (43) of successive convolutions of the helically wound strip (41).

  • Patent number: 4893389
Abstract: A method for reinstating branch lines to main sewers or pipes which have been relined is used in which inflatable plug seals the branch line and grout is injected via an injection pipe to fill the cavity at the junction around the liner. When the grout has initially set the inflatable plug is withdrawn and a pilot hole is cut through the grout and liner by a cutting tool fed down the branch line on a flexible drive. A reaming tool, attached to the flexible drive is drawn from within the liner towards the branch line to open up the pilot hole to fully open the connection between the main sewer or pipe and the branch line.
