  • Publication number: 20100131152
Abstract: Systems, control methods and related apparatus for engine idling reduction, to decrease operating cost and pollution related to the use of an automotive vehicle, while increasing its autonomy. Integrated are an automatic start-stop device, an increased onboard energy capacity, an electric pump that circulates engine coolant to the heater radiator to extract engine thermal inertia for cabin heating and an engine electric cooling system. The system is designed to reduce fuel consumption and air pollution while maintaining auxiliary systems in function and the cabin temperature at an acceptable level when the engine is stopped. This system may be integrated aboard internal combustion engine vehicles that have important idling periods in normal conditions. Such systems can either be implemented as retrofit kits or during a vehicle's manufacturing, directly by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
