Abstract: A rotary machine tool that includes first and second slides mounted on a bed for opposed movement transverse to the axis of rotation of a workpiece. Each of the first and second slides includes facility for mounting a cutting tool for engaging diametrically opposite sides of the workpiece from directions transverse to the workpiece axis of rotation. A control mechanism is coupled to the first slide for moving the first slide relative to the bed for controlled engagement of the cutting tool on the first slide with the workpiece. A hydraulic actuator is coupled to the second slide for moving the second slide relative to the bed in a direction transverse to the workpiece axis. A synchronizing valve is operatively coupled to the first slide for operating the actuator responsive to movement of the first slide so as to move the second slide by means of the actuator in a manner equal and opposite to movement of the first slide by the controller.

Abstract: A lathe has two diametrically opposed and simultaneously operating tool slides which are powered so as to be displaceable toward and away from each other and the workpiece being machined. A timing mechanism, independent of the drive to each slide, interconnects the two slides to assure accurate equal displacement of the two slides toward and away from each other.

Abstract: A device for releasably gripping a fishing line employed in conjunction with a downrigger device consists of a bracket attached to the downrigger device and having two line snubbing devices thereon. One of the line snubbing devices comprises a rearwardly extending stud means around which the line is wrapped and the other line snubbing device comprises a resilient means for releasably gripping the line.

Abstract: A device for releasably gripping a fishing line employed in conjunction with a downrigger device consists of a bracket attached to the downrigger device and having a lever connected therewith for pivotal movement in a vertical plane. An intermediate portion of the line extending down from the fishing rod is releasably connected to the bracket by means of the lever. A pull of predetermined strength on the trailing bait end portion of the line extending rearwardly from the bracket is designed to pivot the lever upwardly. The line is released from the bracket in response to upward pivotal movement of the lever.
