  • Patent number: 4568488
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to a method for the purification of a protein component of a biological fluid, said method comprising: raising antibodies to impurities commonly present in crude preparations of said components; preparing an immunoadsorbent complex by linking said antibodies to a solid adsorbent suitable for use in column chromatography; processing a preparation of said component containing impurities through a chromatography column containing said immunoadsorbent, thereby causing selective adsorption of said impurities and exclusion of said component in the effluent; and recovering said purified component from said effluent. Another aspect of this invention is directed to human urinary erythropoietin purified by the above method.
