  • Patent number: 7303052
Abstract: A device for tightening and loosening a bicycle's brake wire is provided, which is installed between a handbrake operating device and a handbrake assembly of the bicycle. The device is mainly composed by a knob structure, a seat structure, and a tubular element. The knob structure and seat structure are configured such that their total length changes as the knob structure is twisted, which in turn tightens or loosens the brake wire of the bicycle. The gap between the handbrake assembly's brake pads therefore could be narrowed for the handbrake's normal operation, or loosened for dismounting the bicycle's wheel quickly and conveniently.

  • Patent number: 7281611
Abstract: The present invention provides an adjusting tube on an end of the brake cable conduit, which is composed of rotating first and second tubular bodies. At where the first and second tubular bodies are joined, they are configured to have symmetrical and matching indented and non-indented sections. When the first and second tubular bodies are rotated to have their non-indented and indented sections aligned and fitted together, the brake wire could be relieved from the handbrake assembly, the gaps between the brake pads and the wheel rim are enlarged, and the wheel could therefore be easily assembled to or disassembled from the bicycle frame through the enlarged gaps.

  • Patent number: 7243762
Abstract: A bicycle handbrake operating device is provided. The present invention utilizes a roller wheel to pull the brake wire so as to generate a longer pulling distance and to reduce the exerted force as well. The roller wheel is installed inside the handbrake operating device, and the brake wire goes around the roller wheel. When the operating lever is gripped, the brake wire slides along the roller wheel to achieve a longer pulling distance; the roller wheel's self rotation also reduces the exerted force. Additionally, the brake wire almost always remains a straight line during the pull, which makes the operation of the handbrake operating device smooth and the brake wire would undergo minimum wearing.

  • Patent number: 7240772
Abstract: An embedding typed handbrake operating device is disclosed herein, which mainly contains a positioning seat to which an operating lever is pin-joined. A stopping ring, a spring, and a locking seat are sequentially joined to the positioning seat through a locking bolt. The brake sleeve of a brake cable is threaded into the tubular body of the end section of the handlebar via a cable entrance hole and then into the locking seat. A brake wire is threaded through the operating lever, an axial through hole of the locking bolt, and into the brake sleeve connected to the locking seat, and finally to the handbrake assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060243543
Abstract: A bicycle handbrake operating device is provided, which contains a positioning seat and an operating lever. A brake cable is joined to an end of the operating lever so that, when the operating lever is gripped to pivot around its pivoting hole, the brake cable is pulled to stop the bicycle. The handbrake operating device utilizes two metal bearings positioned above and beneath the pivoting hole of the operating lever respectively, and the locking screw is threaded through the bearings and the pivoting hole. Each of the bearings contains a ring cover and a tubular bearing seat. Inside the bearing seat, a number of steel balls are arranged along the circumference of the bearing seat. The addition of the bearings contributes to an even smoother operation and a prolonged operation life for the operating lever.

  • Publication number: 20060185940
Abstract: An auxiliary handbrake operating device is positioned between the handbrake assembly mounted on the bicycle frame and the normal handbrake operating device along the brake wire. The brake wire goes directly through a wire hole on the auxiliary handbrake operating device so that the normal handbrake operating device at the end of the handle bar could pull the brake wire and, therefore, the brake arms of the handbrake assembly to brake the bicycle without any interference as usual. On the other hand, when the auxiliary handbrake operating device is gripped, it will push a cable wrap around the brake wire which in turn would force the handbrake assembly to brake the bicycle.

  • Patent number: 7017716
Abstract: A handbrake operating device is provided. The handbrake operating device contains a positioning seat and an operating lever. The positioning seat has a tubular portion on one end for fitting a curved handlebar. The positioning seat has a connection slot on the other end allowing the brake wire to pass through. The handbrake operating device is designed such that the brake wire goes nearly straight between the handbrake operating device and the brake device of the vehicle. As the brake wire is not bended with any abrupt angle and remains in a tensed condition, the brake device of the vehicle would quickly and sensitively respond to the handbrake operating device.

  • Patent number: 7000738
Abstract: A U-type bicycle handbrake assembly structure is provided so that the brake arms could be quickly and easily positioned. The invention cuts a planar surface on the fitting tube welded to the bicycle frame. The planar surface is parallel to the brake pad's contact surface to the wheel rim. The invention then configures a protruding plate on the adjusting seat along the adjusting seat's axial direction. When a brake arm is pin-joined to the fitting tube of the bicycle frame, the brake arm could be positioned quickly and easily by arranging the axial protruding plate of the adjusting seat to match against the planar surface of the fitting tube.

  • Publication number: 20050241427
Abstract: A bike hand brake cable is guide by an arch contact of a brake level of the bike to keep the cable on the same axis when the brake level is pulled so to provide a direct and safe braking free of misaligned cable, or component force, or breakup due to wear and tear; and to save efforts on pulling the cable with increased pull distance by increasing the binding circumference of the cable against the arch contact for the cable when pulled to circuit the arch contact.
