  • Patent number: 6378468
Abstract: In an engine operated machine, an engine and a generator formed integrally with each other are covered with a shroud and a fan cover to form a power-generating unit. A head cover of the engine is mounted to protrude from an upper surface of the shroud, and the head cover is resiliently supported on a carrying handle of a case with a rubber bushing positioned therebetween. When the carrying handle is lifted, the weight of the power-generating unit is supported directly by the carrying handle without being applied to the case. Therefore, it is unnecessary to specially reinforce the case, thereby enabling a reduction in weight, and also increasing the degree of freedom of the design such as the shape and material of the case. Thus, when the engine operated machine is transported using the carrying handle, the weight of the engine and the working device can be reliably supported.

  • Patent number: 6039009
Abstract: A compact engine-operated generator unit has instruments in a soundproof case arranged efficiently from the viewpoint of measures for sound and heat abatement. Particularly, the engine-operated generator unit includes the engine and the generator driven by the engine arranged in a direction of a rotary shaft linking the engine and the generator and the soundproof case accommodates the engine, the generator and other components of the unit therein. An interior of the soundproof case is partitioned into front, center and rear compartments by plate-like front and rear frame members; a through hole is formed in the rear frame member; a duct is provided in the through hole swelling out toward the center compartment and the rear compartment; the generator, the engine and a muffler are accommodated in the duct; a fuel tank and suction system instruments are disposed outside of the duct within the center compartment; and electric instruments are disposed within the front compartment.

  • Patent number: 6028369
Abstract: A compact engine-operated generator unit in which only one centrifugal fan for cooling is provided to restrain generation and leakage of operation noise, while an engine and a generator are still cooled efficiently. Particularly, the engine-operated generator unit comprises an engine and a generator driven by the engine arranged in a direction of a rotary shaft, and soundproof case housing the engine, the generator and other components therein, the generator includes an outer-rotor; a centrifugal fan provided on an end surface the outer-rotor of the generator remote from the engine; a duct covering the centrifugal fan, the generator and the engine and having a suction opening at a side facing the centrifugal fan; a discharge operating on a downstream side of the duct facing an exterior of the soundproof case; and a circulation space provided between the generator and the engine for introducing a part of cooling air flowing toward the engine into the generator to circulate again back to the centrifugal fan.

  • Patent number: 5977667
Abstract: A compact engine-operated generator unit having a high soundproof effect in which a generator thereof can be cooled efficiently as well as an engine and a muffler thereof. The engine-operated generator has an engine and a generator driven by the engine arranged in a row with a common rotary axis and accommodated in a soundproof case.

  • Patent number: 5962939
Abstract: An outer-rotor type engine-operated generator is of low cost and simple construction, can be miniaturized and can leak electricity for ignition without sacrificing generator output. The engine-operated generator has a plurality of magnets arranged along an inner circumference of an outer cylindrical wall of an outer-rotor and a multipolar stator housed within the outer-rotor facing the magnets. An electricity generating section for an engine ignition device is disposed on an outside of and opposite to the outer cylindrical wall of the outer-rotor, and a through window, through which magnetic force of the magnets affects the electricity generating section, is formed in a part of the outer cylindrical wall.

  • Patent number: 5642702
Abstract: A generator set includes a permanent soundproof housing for housing a portable engine generator therein. The portable engine generator has wheels for moving the same and can be operated in the permanent soundproof housing. The portable engine generator can be taken out of the permanent soundproof housing by pulling the portable engine generator out of the permanent soundproof housing in a direction transverse to a direction of advance of the wheels, and thereafter moving the portable engine generator in the direction of advance of the wheels.
