  • Patent number: 4240667
Abstract: A driving gear for a mining machine comprising a coil chain wound over a driving wheel and a jockey wheel and co-operating with a rack mounted along a conveyor. A sweep-off gear is pivotably mounted in front of a slide of the machine at a level above the rack. The sweep-off gear has a sweep-off surface which is inclined both with respect to the longitudinal axis of the rack and the horizontal surface of the rack teeth for sweeping-off bodies from the rack onto the conveyor. Nozzles are provided on the gear for washing the rack with a water stream under pressure at an angle with respect to the surface of the rack.

  • Patent number: 4240668
Abstract: A driving device for a mining machine comprising an endless link chain exded on a drive wheel, a reversible wheel and a plurality of directing wheels and co-operating with a rack fixed alongside the conveyor. The directing wheels are each composed of two toothed rings separated by a circumferential groove. The outline of the teeth of the wheels is formed of sections of the sides of a regular polygon circumscribed on a circle, the tips of the teeth being truncated. In the intertooth spaces the wheel is provided with recesses below the pitch circle. The links of the chain lying in a plane parallel to the axis of the wheel seat on the flanks of two neighboring teeth, whereas the links lying in a plane perpendicular to the axis are seated in the circumferential groove. The reversible wheel has a shape identical to that of the directing wheels.

  • Patent number: 4234234
Abstract: The invention solves a problem of transferring the combine weight onto a veyor through a railing, instead of through a link chain. For the aforesaid purpose a slide skid is provided, at both sides, with riding wheels. During operation of the combine the riding wheels roll on a railing; the riding wheels are mounted in a slide skid on a cranked axle. The cranked axle is protected against turning by means of a cover provided with a splined hole fixed on a splined pin of the cranked axle. The cover is fixed to the slide skid by means of screws. The design of the present device prevents deformation and tightening of vertical links of a chain between a rack and a slide skid in case of fouling of the rack with fine coal.
