Abstract: Disclosed is a method of detecting a seat belt of a vehicle, the method comprising: storing, by a controller, a pattern before an occupant of a vehicle wears a seat belt webbing and a pattern after the occupant of the vehicle wears the seat belt webbing photographed through a region of interest of a vision sensor in a memory; receiving, by the controller, an image for the seat belt webbing photographed in the region of interest of the vision sensor; determining, by the controller, whether the pattern of the seat belt webbing stored in the memory is detected from the image of the seat belt webbing; and when the pattern of the seat belt webbing is not detected, controlling, by the controller, a display device to display a first warning message indicating that the seat belt webbing is not detected.

Abstract: A seat belt apparatus of a vehicle described in the present disclosure includes a seat belt coupled to a seat and including a webbing comprising a detectable material; a vision sensor configured to generate an image by capturing a field of view region including the seat; and a monitoring system configured to detect a length of the webbing e.g., based on the pattern coated with the at least one paint in the image, and determine whether a user wears the seat belt as desired or erroneously wears the seat belt based on the detected length of the webbing.
