  • Patent number: 6648264
Abstract: It is adapted such that, when coiling a thin metal strip at high speed, no shape defect owing to a center buckle occurs in the metal strip, thereby intending an improvement in yield. In a method of coiling a metal strip, adapted such that, before the coiling is finished, wrapper rolls 6 are pushed against an outer coiling face of a coil 5 to brake a rotation of the coil 5 and, by this, the rotation of the coil 5 is stopped in a short time at a coiling finish time, a pushing force of the wrapper roll 6 is made 10-20 kN/m.

  • Patent number: 6301946
Abstract: In order to prevent a preceding strip from being oversupplied on a delivery side of a coiling pinch rolls and to prevent a leading end of the following material from being over supplied on an entrance side of the coiling pinch rolls, to provide a strip coiling method in which a strip sent from a rolling mill is cut to a predetermined length by a strip shear (102), and a cut strip is coiled by a mandrel (107) of a coiler (104) via a coiling pinch rolls (105) disposed on a delivery side of a strip shear (102), characterized in that after a tail end of the strip coiled by the mandrel (107) via the coiling pinch rolls (105) is cut by the strip shear (102), a circumferential speed of the coiling pinch rolls (105) is higher than a transfer speed of the following material immediately after the cutting operation and lower than a coiling speed of the strip coiled by the mandrel (107).

  • Patent number: 6185971
Abstract: A take-up equipment and a take-up method for a finish rolling mill for dividing a strip into a plurality of coiled products when taking up the strip on the exit side of the finish rolling mill are provided. A plurality of take-up machines (24, 26, K1, K2) are disposed at the downstream side of a hot finish rolling mill; a shearing machine (27, 2) is provided on the upstream side of a pinch roll (23, 4) of the take-up machines (24, K1) at the uppermost stream end; and a strip passing device (28, 6a) is provided between the shearing machine and the pinch roll at the uppermost stream to prevent a strip from rising. The strip passing devices are guiding devices for restricting the height of the rise of the strip or the airflow suction type strip passing devices for drawing in a strip under suction using airflow. The plurality of take-up machines are down coilers or carousel type reels having two winding drums (66a, 66b).
