  • Patent number: 7938126
Abstract: A low ignition propensity cigarette according to the invention includes a high-density region formed in the center of the paper tube and containing normal shred tobacco filled to be a filling density of 0.15 to 0.35 g/cm3, for example 0.25 g/cm3, and a low density region formed between the paper tube and the high-density region and containing expanded shred tobacco filled to a filling density of 0.05 to 0.15 g/cm3, for example 0.14 g/cm3. The thickness of the low-density region defined between the paper tube and the high-density region is in the range of 1 to 3 mm.

  • Publication number: 20090025742
Abstract: A low ignition propensity cigarette paper includes base cigarette paper having a basis weight exceeding 22 g/m2, and a plurality of burn limiting areas arranged apart from one another on one surface of the base cigarette paper. The burn limiting areas are formed by applying sodium alginate having a degree of polymerization of about 500 to about 900 or sodium alginate whose 3% by weight aqueous solution exhibits a viscosity of 19000 cP or more as measured at 25° C.

  • Publication number: 20080011312
Abstract: A cigarette paper exhibiting a low flame-spreading property, includes, on one surface of a base cigarette paper containing a filler in an amount of 2 to 6 g/m2 and having a basis weight of 16 to 22 g/m2, burn-suppressing regions coated with a burn-suppressing agent, provided spaced apart from each other, in which the total coating amount of the burn-suppressing agent corresponds to 0.2 to 1.8 g per m2 of the coated portion.

  • Publication number: 20060027243
Abstract: A cigarette includes a tobacco filler material rod and a cigarette paper wrapping the rod. The cigarette paper has an inherent air permeability of more than 20 CORESTA units but 80 CORESTA units or less and contains a loading material in an amount of 1.0 to 5.0 g/m2.

  • Patent number: 6860274
Abstract: A low fire-spreading cigarette has a tobacco section including a columnar tobacco filler material, an inside wrapper paper sheer wrapping the outer circumferential surface of the columnar tobacco filler material and an outside wrapper paper sheet wrapping the outer circumferential surface of the inside wrapper paper sheet. The heat conductivity of the inside wrapper is 0.5 W·K?1·m?1 or more and the heat conductivity of the outside wrapper paper sheet is less than 0.5 W·K?1·m?1.

  • Patent number: 6848449
Abstract: A smoking article is manufactured through supplying a tobacco filler material onto a tobacco wrapping paper sheet that is transferred, wrapping the tobacco filler material supplied onto the tobacco wrapping paper sheet with the tobacco wrapping paper sheet so as to prepare a rod body, and cutting the rod body into a plurality of tobacco rods each having a prescribed length. The tobacco filler material contains at least 20% by weight of expanded tobacco material. The tobacco wrapping paper sheet is coated with the burn adjusting agent during transfer of the tobacco wrapping paper sheet.
