  • Patent number: 6441979
Abstract: In a digital information recording and reproducing apparatus of a rotary magnetic head type for selecting and recording a plurality of digital information signals having different transmission rates and for selectively reproducing the recorded signal, a high-rate digital information signal and a low-rate digital information signal are inputted for selection of either one thereof to be converted by a recording-system encoder into two channels of recording signals. When recording the high-rate signal, the rotary drum is turned at a rotation speed and the magnetic tape is fed at a feed speed (V1) to conduct 4-track azimuth recording of the signals for each rotation of the rotary drum by the first to fourth magnetic heads.

  • Publication number: 20020102096
Abstract: An apparatus for recording and reproducing a digital video signal on and from a common recording medium by using the head configuration common to the conventional one while maintaining exchangeability with the current analog VTR. An analog video and audio signals are recorded and reproduced on and from an video track and an underlying deep-layer track, respectively, by means of magnetic heads and magnetic heads. On the other hand, a digital video and audio signal is recorded and reproduced on and from two adjacent tracks by means of the magnetic heads for analog audio recording. During reproduction, an identification signal generating circuit generates an identification signal for discriminating a recorded signal, and a control signal is PWM modulated with the identification signal and recorded on a control track by means of a magnetic head.

  • Patent number: 6134384
Abstract: An apparatus and method for recording on and reproducing from a magnetic tape a digital signal by rotating heads. A synchronizing signal, a control signal, and an error correction code are added to the digital signal, and the digital signal with those signals added is converted into a block form. At the recording time, a recording signal produced from a recording circuit is recorded on the recording medium by a first head of the rotating heads, and at the same time the recorded signal is reproduced by a second head of the rotating heads. In addition, there are provided a first recording mode in which two error correction codes are added, and a second recording mode in which three error correction codes are added. Thus, the recorded signal can be confirmed by the simultaneous playback made at the recording time so that the reliability in data can be assured.

  • Patent number: 6041161
Abstract: A video signal input-output circuit and a recording-reproduction apparatus in which a digitally compressed video signal input in packet form can be recorded and reproduced efficiently and in stable fashion. In this apparatus, a clock reference is detected from a packet signal containing the clock reference and a digitally compressed video signal, a time stamp for a packet is generated using a clock signal in phase with the clock reference and added to the particular packet, and the packet signals with the time stamp added thereto are recorded closely to each other in a data storage element such as a magnetic recording medium. At playback, the packet interval is output by being restored to the original length on the basis of the time stamp added to the packet in store.
