The print head is controlled to perform printing of one raster each time the relative position between the printing medium and the print head is changed by an interval of the raster. The movement mechanism is controlled to make a drive interval of the stepping motor at least one time step longer than a preceding drive interval before a rotation speed of the stepping motor reaches a predetermined target speed.
