  • Patent number: 6455999
Abstract: In a color cathode ray tube, the outer diameter of a neck is set at 22 mm-23 mm, the diameter of a pin circle formed by stem pins outside the flare section of a stem welded to an end of the neck is set at a nominal value of 15.24 mm, and the maximum diameter of a base adhered to an outer surface of the stem is set at 23 mm or less. Accordingly, while the neck outer diameter is reduced to reduce the power consumption of the color cathode ray tube, the color cathode ray tube has a high resolution.

  • Patent number: 6406742
Abstract: A coating apparatus for forming a high-resistance film on the inner surface of the neck of the funnel of a cathode ray tube has a nozzle that can be inserted into the neck. The nozzle, which is provided for applying a material liquid to the inner surface of the neck, has a jet hole inclined toward the direction of gravity. The material liquid applied through the jet hole thus inclined scarcely flows upwardly on the inner surface of the neck. The liquid therefore forms a high-resistance film having a uniform thickness on the inner surface of the neck of the funnel. Having a uniform thickness, the high-resistance film inhibits the charge-up of the neck potential, reducing the convergence drift caused by the charge-up of the neck potential.

  • Publication number: 20020043921
Abstract: A main lens of an electron gun assembly comprises a sixth grid, a seventh grid, an eighth grid, and a ninth grid. An asymmetric lens section is created between a fifth grid and the sixth grid on a cathode side of the main lens. The asymmetric lens section has such asymmetry that lens functions of the asymmetric lens section acting on the electron beams are different between the horizontal direction and the vertical direction, and has a lens power varying in synchronism with the deflection of the electron beams. In this asymmetric lens, the asymmetry for a center beam differs from that for side beams.

  • Publication number: 20010033132
Abstract: In a color cathode ray tube, an electron gun assembly is received in a neck and includes three cathode electrodes, which are heated by heaters, respectively, and a plurality of electrodes. A sealing portion is welded to a stem section of the neck, and stem pins holding the electron gun are buried in the sealing portion. A wire is connected at one end to the stem pin and also connected at the other end to the electrode corresponding to the stem pin so as to electrically connect the electrode to the stem pin. The wire is provided with a folded portion. Even if the wire is thermally expanded, the thermal expansion is absorbed by the folded portion so as to suppress the fluctuation of the cathode current flowing into the electrode.

  • Patent number: 5631521
Abstract: In a color cathode ray tube apparatus having an electron gun assembly for emitting three electron beams disposed in one line, the electron gun assembly has at least first, second, and third electrodes G5, G7, and G9 applied with a voltage which changes in synchronization with deflection of electron beams. The first electrode and an electrode G4 adjacent thereto form first eccentric lenses for deflecting a pair of side beams in a direction in which the side beams extend to be close to the center beam. The second electrode and an electrode G6 adjacent thereto form second eccentric lenses for deflecting the side beams in a direction in which the side beams extend to be apart from the center beam. The third electrode and an electrode G8 adjacent thereto form third eccentric lenses for deflecting the side beams in a direction in which the side beams extend to be close to the center beam. An electron lens common to the three electron beams is formed between the second and third eccentric lenses.

  • Patent number: 4945284
Abstract: An electron gun for color-picture tube device comprises a final accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode divided into plural electrode units in the axial direction of the tube. A first focusing electrode unit adjacent to the final accelerating electrode is connected to a second focusing electrode unit adjacent to the first focusing electrode unit through a resistor. A focusing voltage being change in synchronous with the deflection of an electron beam is applied to the first focusing electrode unit. The resistor is used for removing the a.c. components from the focusing voltage. Then, the removed focusing voltage is applied to the second focusing electrode. For the electron beam deflected on the peripheral part of the screen, a quadrupole lens is formed. On the first focusing electrode unit side opposite to the second focusing electrode unit are formed first electron beam path holes whose major axes extend horizontally.

  • Patent number: 4935663
Abstract: In an electron gun assembly, three electron beams emitted from cathodes are passed through an electrode arrangement in which two intermediate electrodes are arranged between focusing are accelerating electrodes. A focusing voltage which is varied depending on an deflection of the electron beam is applied to the focusing electrode and an accelerating voltage is applied to the accelerating electrode. A resistor is connected between the accelerating electrode and the earth through a variable resistor and intermediate points of the resistor are connected to the intermediate electrodes. Thus, convergent and divergent lenses are formed between the focusing electrode and the intermediate electrode and between the accelerating electrode and the intermediate electrode. The lens powers of the convergent and divergent lenses are varied in accordance with the adjustment of the variable resistor.
