Abstract: A program viewing control apparatus includes: a detection unit for detecting rating information regarding a viewing lock level of contents, which is added to data of the contents; a storing unit for storing rating information regarding the viewing lock level; a control unit for locking the contents based on comparison between the rating information detected by the detection unit and the rating information stored in the storing unit; a selection unit for inputting a selection signal for selecting whether to limit viewing of the contents or not when contents video based on data of the contents is displayed on a display section; and an update unit for updating the rating information stored in the storing unit based on the selection signal inputted from the selection unit.

Abstract: A broadcast receiving device includes a first receiving unit, a second receiving unit, a display control unit, an audio determination unit, a switching determination unit and a switching execution unit. The display control unit displays a first image corresponding to a first television broadcast received by the first receiving unit on a main screen in a monitor, and displays a second image corresponding to a second television broadcast received by the second receiving unit on a subscreen in the monitor. The switching determination unit compares a first audio corresponding to the first television broadcast with a second audio corresponding to the second television broadcast, and determines whether or not the second audio is to be outputted instead of the first audio. The switching execution unit executes audio switching processing based on a determination result of the switching determination unit so that the second audio is outputted instead of the first audio.

Abstract: Disclosed is a personal configuration information sharing system comprising a plurality of pieces of electric equipment connected with one another through a network, the plurality of pieces of electric equipment sharing personal configuration information with each other, wherein a setting time of set contents in a first personal configuration information of a first electronic equipment received by a first personal configuration information reception unit is compared with a setting time of set contents in a second personal configuration information of a second electronic equipment extracted by an extraction unit, and the first personal configuration information and the second personal configuration information are merged to update the second personal configuration information to the set contents which are set later.

Abstract: A burn-in correction system including a display unit equipped with a display panel displaying an image according to input image data, and an imaging unit acquiring imaged image data by imaging the display panel from a viewing side, the system correcting burn-in on the display panel. The system further includes: a lighting unit lighting each pixel constituting the display panel in order under a preset lighting condition; a calculation unit calculating a difference value between luminance of the imaged image data of each pixel lighted by the lighting unit, the imaged image data acquired by imaging each lighted pixel with the imaging unit, and luminance preset in the lighting condition; and a correction unit correcting luminance of each pixel based on the input image data, the correcting performed based on the difference value calculated by the calculation unit.

Abstract: In a receiver, when a channel is registered on the channel map 15, the receiver 1 registers the channel by the unit of a physical channel, and when a channel is deleted from the channel map 15, the receiver 1 deletes the channel by the unit of a sub-channel. A common user has a tendency of watching most of a plurality of sub-channels contained in one physical channel and a tendency of not watching a portion of the plurality of sub-channels which the user does not like.

Abstract: A digital decoder decodes a digital broadcast signal inputted, and outputs a plurality of caption service data CSD1 to CSD6 to a CPU. The CPU 1 selects two among the CSD1 to CSD6, and converts the selected caption service data into closed caption data. The two closed caption data are allocated to each of closed captions CC1 and CC3, and are outputted from a digital broadcast/analog broadcast receiving apparatus to a display device.

Abstract: When a viewer does not make a request for displaying a menu screen, a CPU inserts a closed caption signal into LINE 21 of a video signal and outputs the video signal to an analog television receiver. When the viewer changes the setting of the apparatus, the CPU performs so as to output a menu image, to generate a closed caption erase signal, and to insert the closed caption erase signal into LINE 21 of the video signal. Thereafter, output of the menu image is continued until the menu erase signal is received or reception of digital broadcast signal is terminated and in the meanwhile, the closed caption signal is not output.

Abstract: On the condition that a different channel is not selected upon the elapse of a prescribed time after the channel selection, channel information of the desired channel is stored in a history list that can specify the order in which desired channels are selected. According to a historical channel-selection operation by a history button, historical channel-selection is performed to select a channel having channel information stored at an ordinal position that temporally precedes an ordinal position of channel information of a channel selected last time. In addition, upon reception of a historical channel-selection operation after a predetermined time has passed since the historical channel selection, historical channel-selection is performed to select a channel at the last position in terms of time, so that a broadcast on the selected channel is output. Therefore, the burden of selecting a channel is decreased.

Abstract: In a digital television broadcast signal receiver (TV receiver), when closed caption information of digital TV (DTV-CC) is detected, a DTV-CC logo (first annunciation image) 31 is displayed with superimposing on an image of TV program for announcing that the DTV-CC is included in the digital TV signal, and when closed caption information of NTSC (NTSC-CC) is detected, an NTSC-CC logo (second annunciation image) 32 is displayed with superimposing on the image of TV program for announcing that the NTSC-CC is included in the digital TV signal. Thus, a user can easily recognize whether the DTV-CC and/or NTSC-CC are/is included in the digital TV signal or not.

Abstract: In a television receiving apparatus, a receiving apparatus 1 has storage means for storing a voice output switching table 20 registering a voice setting record 21 having the voice output format associated with the broadcasting language of the received digital broadcasting in a control unit 2. Every time the switching operation of the voice output format is made, the voice setting record 21 is selected in the registered order. Also, the receiving apparatus 1 outputs a voice signal with the language and the voice output format based on the selected voice setting record 21 from an output portion 6. Accordingly, the broadcasting language and the voice output format of the digital broadcasting being received can be switched by single operation, resulting in enhanced operability.

Abstract: A television program recording/reproducing device displays a reproduction program selection screen containing a title list image, a cursor image, frame images for initial letter selection and frame images for second letter selection. The title list image displays multiple title images sequentially in alphabetical order. One frame image for initial letter selection is displayed for multiple same titles, if any, while one frame image for second letter selection is displayed for multiple titles having the same initial letter, if any, in the title list image. The cursor image is moved on and between the title images and the both frame images. This television program recording/reproducing device allows a user to more effectively search for and find a desired television program to be reproduced, and can mitigate the burden on the user in an operation of reproducing a television program.

Abstract: In a digital/analog broadcast receiver, when an operating unit 11 is manipulated for tuning, an MPU reads, from a received digital broadcast, a carrier frequency that corresponds to a desired virtual channel number; reads, from a ROM, a physical channel number corresponding to the carrier frequency; reads, from the ROM, a carrier frequency range corresponding to the physical channel number; and receives a digital/analog broadcast in the carrier frequency range.

Abstract: A television signal receiver comprises a tuner, a decoder, a first storage medium that stores a frame of video signals extracted by the decoder as a captured image, a second storage medium that stores sound data representing a variety of shutter sounds to be generated for informing a user that a captured image has been stored in the first storage medium, and a sound generating circuit that, when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, selects a shutter sound among the variety of shutter sounds represented by the sound data stored in the second storage medium and generates the selected shutter sound. Since the television signal receiver is configured to generate a shutter sound when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, it can inform a user about storage of a captured image in the first storage medium without causing video images of a television program to be partly hidden from view.

Abstract: A digital broadcast receiver selects a language in which captions are displayed on a monitor on the basis of a language designated by a user for caption output (caption selecting means). Further, the digital broadcast receiver selects a language in which audio is output through a speaker on the basis of a language designated for audio output (audio selecting means). The digital broadcast receiver is designed so that the language designated for caption output and the language designated for audio output are set as a designated language that is unified (designated language setting means). Therefore, a user can designate a language for caption output and a language for audio output at the same time in only one operation to input a designated language. Accordingly, the necessity for separately inputting a language designated for caption output and a language designated for audio output can be avoided to eliminate the inconvenience to a user.

Abstract: A digital/analog tuner device comprising a still image capture device stores, as the captured image, a video image of a video signal with VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval) portions of the video signal being removed, when storing a captured image, and also stores aspect ratio information of the captured image. For displaying on a television receiver the captured image with the VBI portions being removed, blank portions in accordance with the aspect ratio information are added to the captured image for output. This makes it possible to prevent the generation of e.g. noises due to the VBI portions contained in video signals, and prevent the deformation of captured images due to the loss of the aspect ratio information in capturing the images.

Abstract: A television receiver 1 enables a decoder 5 to extract a closed caption signal of DTVCC method from a digital broadcasting signal received via an antenna 11. The closed caption signal of DTVCC method extracted here is analyzed and converted into the closed caption signal of Line 21 method. And in a DVE 6, the closed caption data of Line 21 method is inserted into the 21st scanning line of an analog picture signal converted by the decoder 5 for output.

Abstract: A broadcasting receiver that receives broadcasting signals transmitted by a broadcasting station accompanying audio signals of multiple languages and automatically selects a certain broadcasting language to be outputted is described here. The receiver is capable of displaying a “Priority Switching Language Registration Menu” on its display in order to set up and register switching of priority languages. A priority language list determined by a user referring to a language list database displayed on the display is stored into a memory together with the maximum number of audio channels set up by the user.

Abstract: A receiver apparatus accepts the registration/registration cancellation of a channel, while outputting a video signal for a picture based on channel information stored in a memory provided for a controller. Therefore, a user can perform a registration/registration cancellation of a physical channel, while examining the correlation between a virtual channel and a physical channel. Therefore, the user can easily register an unregistered physical channel, and the usability can be improved.
