  • Patent number: 8321642
Abstract: The information storage system of an aspect of the present invention includes a first differential data storage area which stores differential data of a higher volume from a first point of time to a second point of time, a lower snapshot manager which provides a lower snapshot at the second point of time of the higher volume, and a second differential data storage area which stores differential data of the higher volume after the second point of time. The higher snapshot manager acquires a plurality of generations of higher snapshots from the lower snapshot and the data in the first differential data storage area and acquires a plurality of generations of higher snapshots from the data of the higher volume and the data in the second differential data storage area.

  • Patent number: 8316065
Abstract: When performing migration of data from a migration source file server which is not endowed with any HSM interface, to a migration destination file server which is endowed with HSM, a volume of high capacity is needed for the migration destination file server, and moreover the performance deteriorates directly after the migration. However, with this system, the manager is enabled to set a migration policy using attribute information which can be acquired through a standard file access interface possessed by a file server program, and, when setting the attribute information of the migration destination file, the tier of the file which is to be created is determined, and the migration destination file is created, on the basis of this attribute information and migration policy.

  • Publication number: 20120283862
Abstract: In devices for generating a path of a tool of a processing machine by way of computer simulation, an NC program is created using a generated processing path. The NC program used to be corrected by verification of actually moving the processing machine. In contrast, the disclosed processing path generation device has been constituted to be provided with a means for calculating a closest distance and direction from a relationship of a position and posture between a tool and a work at an arbitrary point upon the processing path; a means for imparting a color determined by the closest distance and the direction calculated at the point upon the processing path; a means for panoramically displaying the color imparted to the work; and a means for correcting the relationship of the a position and posture between the tool and the work on the basis of information from a display device.

  • Publication number: 20120265961
Abstract: A storage system 1000 providing a storage area to an external device 1500 comprises a plurality of storage apparatuses 1100, 1200 and 1300 of different performance capabilities, and a storage controller 2600. The storage controller 2600 holds storage cost coefficients 3202 of the respective storage apparatuses 1100, 1200 and 1300, user cost allocation information 3302 for each user using the storage system 1000 from the external device 1500, and user cost distribution information 3402 that defines, for each user, proportions of an available space amount distributed to the storage apparatuses 1100, 1200 and 1300. The storage controller 2600 calculates an ideal utilization 3502 for each user, from the storage cost coefficients 3202 and the user cost distribution information 3402, and allocates, for each user, the ideal utilization 3502 to each of the storage apparatuses 1100, 1200 and 1300, in the order of the performance capabilities from highest to lowest.

  • Patent number: 8290608
Abstract: The present teaching is intended to observe the delivery date of a product and decrease the number of workpieces in a merger process. A treatment sequence calculator included in manufacturing instruction equipment identifies an in-process part being worked in each process, and calculates the delivery-date allowance of the in-process part. In-process parts whose delivery-date allowances fall below a predetermined threshold are inputted to each process in ascending order of delivery-date allowances. In-process parts whose delivery-date allowances are equal to or larger than the predetermined threshold are inputted to each process in ascending order by a minimum value of remaining treatment times which the in-process parts take to reach the merger process.

  • Publication number: 20120254107
Abstract: The storage system eliminates inconsistency between a stub, and a file data storage location indicated by the stub. In a storage system that executes HSM using stubs, information relating to a higher tier, which is a data migration source, is recorded during data migration. The stub in the higher tier is correctly restored using the higher-tier information thus recorded. The stub is restored, and inconsistency between information in the HSM layers is resolved.

  • Publication number: 20120246271
Abstract: In order to provide HSM that can effectively use the storage capacity of an upper Tier in an HSM system, a lower Tier of the HSM system detects a group of files having the same data content from a plurality of files stored in the lower Tier, and keeps at least one of the real data of the group of files having the same data content while deleting the rest of the data. The upper Tier receives the process result from the lower Tier. Then, in response to a read request from the host computer that specifies a file included in the group of files and transferred to the upper Tier from the lower Tier, the upper Tier identifies the at least one of the data that is kept and corresponding to the specified file, and responds to the host computer.

  • Patent number: 8263406
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of isolating an enriched or purified population of motor neurons from a population of embryonic stem cells. This method involves providing a population of embryonic stem cells and selecting a promoter or enhancer which functions only in the motor neurons selected. A nucleic acid molecule encoding a marker protein under control of the promoter or enhancer is introduced into the induced population of embryonic stem cells. The motor neurons are allowed to express the marker protein and, the cells expressed in the marker protein are separated from the population of embryonic stem cells. The population of embryonic stem cells can be induced to produce a mixed population of cells comprising motor neurons before or after a nucleic acid molecule encoding the marker protein under control of the promoter enhancer is introduced into the population of embryonic stem cells. As a result, an enriched or purified population of motor neurons is isolated.

  • Patent number: 8255898
Abstract: Provided is a computer system including a first server and a storage system. In the first server, a first virtual server and a second virtual server are operated. Upon reception of a request to boot the first virtual server, the second virtual server judges whether system software of the first virtual server, which is requested to be booted, matches system software of the first server in which the first virtual server is operated. In the case where the system software of the first virtual server and the system software of the first server do not match, the second virtual server updates the system software of the first virtual server before booting the first virtual server.
