The facsimile machine includes a single connector including signal lines for receiving and transmitting signals for coupling the facsimile machine to the interface unit, a single switch coupled to the connector for arbitrarily selecting the communication line to the telephone line in a first mode and to the communication equipment in a second mode, and a communication part for making a facsimile communication using the communication line which is selected by the switch.

    Abstract: A motor control apparatus for controlling a motor which selectively drives a first mechanism for moving a first object and a second mechanism for moving a second object. Both the first and second mechanisms having a backlash which occurs when the motor is reversed. The first mechanism moves the first object when the motor is rotated in a first direction and the second mechanism moves the second object when the motor is rotated in a second direction. The motor control apparatus includes a driving controller for rotating the motor at a predetermined angle in either the first direction or the second direction based on a predetermined instruction, a determining block for determining whether or not the motor is reversed, and a compensation block for compensating the angle at which the driving controller should rotate the motor so that an angle corresponding to the backlash is included in the angle at which the driving controller should rotate the motor.

    Abstract: An acoustic coupler for a data communication device with a housing having a receiver and a coupling member mechanically coupling the receive housing and the transmitter housing. A first speaker is fastened to the second end of the receive part and outputting an acoustic signal to an operator, with yet a second speaker being fastened receiver portion of the housing for outputting an acoustic signal to a receiver portion of the handset. A second microphone is fastened to another part of the receiver which is for inputting an acoustic signal from the operator, and a coupling circuit for electrically coupling the first microphone, the second microphone, the first speaker and the second speaker to a data transmission apparatus.

    Abstract: A radio communication system includes a radio unit, an interface circuit, a microphone and a fascimile unit. The interface unit includes a transformer through which signals are transferred between the radio unit and a seelcted one of the microphone and the facsimile unit so that d.c. components of the signals cannot be transferred. The interface circuit also includes a first relay connected between one winding of the transformer and the microphone and the facsimile unit and a second relay connected between the other winding of the transformer and the radio unit. The system also includes a mode select switch which is operatively coupled to the first and second relays. Thus, mode select signals are also d.c. decoupled signals.

    Abstract: A compact, handy type facsimile machine includes a light source for illuminating an original, a line image sensor for optically reading the original, a condensation sensor for detecting formation of water droplets by condensation on the image sensor, and a control circuit for activating the light source when the condensation sensor has detected the formation of water droplets by condensation on the image sensor. Thus, upon occurrence of condensation, the condensation sensor generates a detection signal, and, in response thereto, the light source is lit to produce heat which then causes the water droplets formed on the image sensor to disappear. Upon disappearance of such water droplets, the control circuit deactivates the light source if there is no original to be read.
