  • Publication number: 20110143636
Abstract: An optical disk restoration apparatus and optical disk restoration method are provided, which are capable of achieving a high level of capability of restoring a scratched optical disk, without consuming the time and labor of an operator, while reducing the production cost of the apparatus. During a polishing process, an appropriate amount of a polishing agent is dropped onto the readout surface of the optical disk by a polishing agent supply pump to continuously supply the polishing agent to the interface between the optical disk and polishing pads, while a polishing water supply pump is operated to replenish the polishing agent with moisture evaporated by the polishing heat. By this mechanism, the amount and physical properties of the polishing agent at the interface between the optical disk and the polishing pads are appropriately maintained for a long period of time, so that the restoration capability is maintained at high levels.

  • Patent number: 7857951
Abstract: The present invention intends to provide a water purification apparatus that is small and easy-to-use, yet being capable of efficiently creating flocs of impurities and removing the impurities from the wastewater in a single pass. To achieve this objective, an inner tubular anode 12 made of stainless steel or carbon is inserted into an outer tubular cathode 11 made of aluminum, leaving a predetermined intermediate space 13 between them, and electrolysis is carried out to produce aluminum hydroxide. The aluminum hydroxide thus produced serves as the medium for flocculating the impurities in the wastewater ascending the intermediate space 13. The wastewater containing the flocs of impurities is filtrated with a filter 18 within a filtering and settling tank 17. As a result, the impurities are completely removed from the wastewater.

  • Publication number: 20060166610
Abstract: An apparatus for polishing an optical disk according to the present invention includes a flange 24 holding a polishing body 20 such as sandpaper, a backup member 21 interposed between the polishing body 20 and the flange 24, a rotation table 12 holding an optical disk 10 as a polished body, a pressing unit 28 for pressing the polishing body 20 against the optical disk 10 with a predetermined contact pressure required for polishing and motors 26 and 14 for rotationally driving the flange 24 and the rotation table 12 respectively. The backup member 21 is deformable within the range of 0.05 to 0.3 mm when pressed with the predetermined contact pressure, which makes it possible to substantially equalize the contact pressure of the polishing body 20 against the optical disk 10 on the entire polishing surface and to prevent the occurrence of roundness on the periphery of the optical disk.

  • Patent number: 6564503
Abstract: In an apparatus for trapping and killing insects using an electric discharge between electrodes to count and/or kill insects or the like, the present invention presents a technology to almost certainly count and/or kill the insects or the like even when the applied voltage is set low. In an insect-trapping/killing apparatus as an embodiment of the invention, when an insect or the like enters the space between an outer electrode and a central electrode, an electric discharge passes through the insect or the like, whereby the insects or the like is killed. After that, the central electrode is rotated in a preset direction to remove the insect or the like downwards by the frictional force. Since the removing mechanism as described above solves the problem of the clogging of the space between electrodes by the insect or the like, the distance between the electrodes can be set as small as the size of the body of the insect or the like, and the applied voltage can be set accordingly low.

  • Patent number: 5478077
Abstract: An apparatus for use in training or playing in various shooting games, such as for a golf approach shot, baseball batting, or gun shooting. A target screen is provided opposite to a shooting point from which a ball or the like is shot out. Four microphones are provided at the circumference of the target screen to detect the collision sound, and another microphone is set at the shooting point to detect the shooting sound of the ball. The duration of flight of the ball, and the collision point on the screen, and the trajectory of the flying ball, are calculated by analyzing the detection time points of each microphone in a control part. The results, i.e., collision point on the target screen, flying trajectory of the ball, etc., are shown on a display unit.
