  • Patent number: 9327797
Abstract: A guide member for a vehicle shock absorber having a construction with which, even when the guide member contacts an inside tube member, the operation of the vehicle shock absorber is not obstructed. A vehicle shock absorber system is provided with an outer tube, an inner tube, a damper cylinder which is connected to the outer tube and is positioned on the inside of the inner tube, a spring guide which is fixed onto the outer circumferential surface of the damper cylinder, and a coil spring which is positioned between the inner tube and the spring guide. The spring guide is provided with a guide main body portion and a low friction portion provided in a portion of the guide main body portion which contacts the inner tube when the outer tube and/or the inner tube has been bent. The low friction portion has a lower coefficient of friction than the guide main body portion.

  • Publication number: 20140157978
Abstract: An air shock absorber includes seal members that maintain the sealing performance and slidability of the seal members. The air shock absorber includes a cylinder and a piston. The cylinder contains gases and is divided by the piston into a high pressure gas chamber and a low pressure gas chamber. A first seal member extends in a circumferential direction of the piston along its outer periphery. A second seal member is located on the outer periphery of the piston closer to the high pressure gas chamber than the first seal member is. A surface of the first seal member includes a groove. A surface of the second seal member faces the surface of the first seal member and includes a groove.

  • Patent number: 8689954
Abstract: A vehicle suspension system that inhibits a pressure within a gas chamber from reducing below a threshold value. In one arrangement, the suspension system includes a shock absorber associated with a motorcycle. The shock absorber includes an upper gas chamber that is filled with air. An air pressure adjustment valve operates to supply air into the upper gas chamber from a supply of air outside of the shock absorber when the air pressure in the upper gas chamber becomes smaller than a lower threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8474582
Abstract: A cushion device includes a shock absorber and an accumulator. As a piston moves in a certain direction in a cylinder so that the shock absorber is compressed, oil in an oil chamber is discharged to the accumulator through an oil hose. The compression operation of the piston allows a slide member to slide and the capacity of an oil chamber is reduced. The oil in the oil chamber is discharged to a regulation unit through an oil hose. The regulation unit controls a valve by the pressure of the oil coming in from the oil chamber and applies resistance to the oil discharged from an oil chamber to an oil chamber.

  • Patent number: 8408560
Abstract: A saddle riding vehicle that allows the amount of roll to be reduced includes a vehicle body, a handle, and a suspension mechanism. The suspension mechanism is provided at a front portion of the vehicle body and supports a pair of left and right front wheels or a pair of left and right skis. The suspension mechanism includes a pair of left and right arm members and a pair of left and right air shock absorbers. The pair of left and right arm members supports the pair of front wheels or the pair of skis in a vertically movable manner. The pair of left and right air shock absorbers is coupled to the pair of arm members. The pair of left and right air shock absorbers each includes a cylinder, a piston, a piston rod, a first gas chamber, and a second gas chamber.

  • Patent number: 6655510
Abstract: An inner tube (2) connected to a vehicle body is inserted such that it is free to extend and contract in an outer tube (1) joined to a vehicle shaft. A partitioning member (3) divides an internal oil chamber at the end of the inner tube. A damping valve (4) and a bypass passage (3d) parallel to this damping valve (4) are disposed in this partitioning member (3). A control rod (5) opens and closes the bypass passage (3d). An actuator (20) in the inner tube (2) controls the control rod (5). By operating the control rod (5) via the actuator (20) to open/close the bypass passage (3d), the damping force generated is varied.
