Abstract: Provided is a moving image processing apparatus that helps simplify the generation of an index image enabling easy identification of a series of moving images with the same program title that has been recorded according to the cyclic recording. With respect to the moving images with the same program title that have been recorded according to the cyclic recording, a still image selected from a reference moving image, which is one of the moving images, is equally set as an index image of each of the moving images.

The VOBUs #1 to #9 thus read are checked whether or not they are prohibited from being copied in the order in which they are read. The VOBUs #1 to #4 and #7 to #9 that are found not to be prohibited from being copied are sent as a digital signal while skipping the VOBUs #5 and #6 that are found to be prohibited from being copied. The VOBUs #1 to #4 and #7 to #9 thus sent are sequentially recorded on a hard disk 13 used as the second recording medium.
