Abstract: An absorbent member comprises an absorbent core, a liquid permeable covering sheet and a reticulated sheet interposed between the absorbent core and the covering sheet 11, wherein the reticulated sheet has a relatively higher open ratio over at least an inwardly facing surface of the absorbent core than over any of opposite side regions and opposite end regions thereof.

Abstract: A topsheet for use in body fluid absorptive goods includes an upper sheet having a skin-contacting area and a plurality of liquid passages each having upper and lower openings. A lower sheet underlies the upper sheet. The lower sheet is welded to the upper sheet around the lower openings and extends into each of the liquid passages along a limited extent thereof.

Abstract: A topsheet for use in body fluid absorptive articles is so improved that collapse and clogging of liquid passages therein may be reliably avoided. The topsheet includes an upper sheet, provided with skin-contacting areas and liquid passages, and a lower sheet provided with skin-non-contacting areas, areas welded to the liquid passages, and exposed areas. The exposed areas are welded to each of the liquid passages around lower openings thereof so as to protect the liquid passage against collapse and clogging. The exposed areas define a skin-contacting surface which rises up into each of the liquid passages without extending above the upper surface of the skin-contacting areas. The upper sheet cooperates with the lower sheet to define cavities extending in the direction of the topsheet thickness.

Abstract: Here are disclosed disposable garments such as diaper and training pants and a method for attachment of threadlike continuous elastic members (each comprising a plurality of threadlike elastic elements) around leg-holes thereof so that the elastic members are progressively widened from their longitudinally opposite ends toward their longitudinally middle portions, respectively.The threadlike continuous elastic members 4A, 4B thus attached to the article around th respective leg-holes each comprises rubber threads 4a, 4b, 4c. The traverse, arrangement support these rubber threads in parallel to one another and forcibly guide them in sine curves with respect to the continuous web 7 so that the portions 4A.sub.1, 4B.sub.1 of the elastic members 4A, 4B to be bonded to the continuous web are bonded thereto. Then, the non-bonded portions 4A2, 4B2 of the elastic members are cut together with the web 7 along boundaries of the individual articles and thereupon contract under their own stretch stresses.

Abstract: Bulky split fibers having bond strength are produced by preparing a composite synthetic resin film of three layer structure having a polypropylene layer formed of a polypropylene/polyethylene blend and a polyethylene layer on either surface of the polypropylene layer, slitting and stretching the composite film to thereby form stretched tapes, and causing splitting of the stretched tapes for fibrillation. An integral article is prepared from the resultant split fibers by mixing them alone or with plant fibers and then heating at a temperature between the melting points of polyethylene and polypropylene, thereby integrating together the split fibers with each other or with the plant fibers.

Abstract: A disposable wearing article of pants type having a front body and a rear body comprising respectively at least a liquid-permeable topsheet and a liquid-impermeable backsheet, and elastic members along a waist-hole and respective leg-holes. The front and rear bodies are attached together along their laterally opposite side edges. The longitudinally opposite ends of the respective elastic members are located on the opposite side edges of the front and rear bodies, and the opposite side edges of the front and rear bodies are intermittently attached together so as to avoid the elastic members.

Abstract: Here is an absorbent panel for body fluid absorptive garments such as a disposable diaper formed from a mixture of at least fibrous or granular liquid-absorptive material and thermoplastic fibers being compressed to a uniform thickness wherein said thermoplastic fibers are welded to each other with a welding density of their cross points to be higher in a crotch zone than in the remaining zone and to provide a tensile strength correspondingly higher in said crotch zone than in said remaining zone.

Abstract: A disposable diaper includes a semi-rigid absorbent body and high flexible side flaps disposed on laterally opposite the thereof. Each of said side flaps includes a first flap disposed outside the absorbent body and a second flap diverged from the first side flap. Each of the second flaps has the associated one of an elastic band incorporated therein and turned up under an elastic effect of the associated elastic band at least along a line of the divergence.

Abstract: Here are disclosed disposable garments such as a diaper having adhesive areas on top- and/or backsheet(s) along leg-openings. Each of the adhesive areas is defined by a plurality of spiral adhesive traces. The stretchable elastic means are bonded to the top- and/or backsheet(s) along the adhesive areas, respectively.

Abstract: Here is disclosed a disposable absorbent garment (such as disposable diaper) comprising a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet, a liquid-absorbent core interposed between these sheets, side flaps comprising a first sheet and a second sheet and extending outwards from opposite side edges of the core, a first elastic member incorporated into each of the side flaps at a location adjacent the outer side edge of this side flap and a second elastic member also incorporated into each of the side flaps between the associated first elastic member and a location adjacent the associated side edge of the core wherein the second elastic member is affixed only to the first sheet so that a part of the first sheet occupied by the second elastic member rises into the user's skin as the second elastic member is allowed to contract.

Abstract: A method for making disposable absorbent articles which includes cutting a sheet into two elongated webs so that one edge of each web is straight and the other edge has alternating concave and convex portions, affixing the webs to a water-impervious backing sheet so that the straight edge portions thereof face each other and the alternating concave-convex portions face outwardly.
