  • Patent number: 7832102
Abstract: In a link rod manufacturing method, a bracket material (14) having a ring portion and a mounting projection (15) is made by extrusion molding a material at the length corresponding to a plurality of brackets. On a forward end of the mounting projection (15), an engaging projection (17) with upper and lower steps (7a, 7a) is formed. An arm (2) is made by extrusion molding and regular-size cutting a material in a substantially I-shaped configuration which has a pair of first and second walls (20, 21) parallel extending on upper and lower sides and a third wall (22) crossing at a right angle and connecting these walls. A notch (23) is formed on an end of the third wall (22). When the engaging projection (17) is engaged with the notch (23), each of ends of the first and second walls (20, 21) on the side of ends 2a of the arm 2 is fitted onto the step (7a, 7a) and butted against a vertical wall (17b).

  • Publication number: 20080235946
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing link rod which integrally joins bushes to each end of pipe-shaped arm portion, an extrusion molded bracket material (14) is formed to have the length allowing N pieces of the arm portions to be arranged in a horizontal row. Engaging projections (7) provided on the bracket material (14) are engaged with ends of the arm portions (2). Then, the ends of the arm portions (2) are butted against mounting walls (15a) provided on a mounting projection (15) of the bracket material 14. N pieces of the arm portions (2) are arranged without clearance in a horizontal row with respect to the bracket material (14) to form butted portions in the shape of a continuous straight line. The friction stir welding is carried out along the butted portions. Then, the bracket material (14) is cut into the width of the bracket (4). The engaging projections (7) are formed by forming slits (18) at given intervals on a horizontal projection (17) extrusion molded integrally with the bracket material (14).

  • Patent number: 5103943
Abstract: A vibration damper for damping roll vibration of a power unit mounted on a vehicle body. The vibration damper is composed of a disc plate fixedly connected to the power unit in a manner that the axis of the disc plate is generally parallel with a roll axis of the power unit. The disc plate is sealingly disposed in a chamber formed in a generally circular casing which is coaxial with the disc plate. A viscous fluid is filled in a space defined between the disc plate and inner surface of the casing. The casing is formed of a plastic which has a higher linear expansion coefficient than a metal forming the disc plate, thereby allowing the space filled with the viscous fluid to expand along with thermal expansion of the viscous fluid.

  • Patent number: 5081881
Abstract: A restrictive fluid passageway is defined between an outer sleeve and a bracket to provide fluid communication between a working chamber and a compensation chamber or two compensation chambers. In one embodiment, two compensating chambers are arranged outside of the outer sleeve. In another embodiment, one compensation chamber is arranged within the outer sleeve, and the outer sleeve is constituted by axially separated three sections, i.e., first and second sleeve sections and a spacer section interposed between the first and second sleeve sections. A resilient deformable member and flexible wall member has a pair of axially spaced sealing lips projecting outward from an outer circumferential surface. The sealing lips are interposed between matched ends of the first and second sleeve sections and the spacer section and sealingly contact an inner circumferential surface of the bracket.

  • Patent number: 5037058
Abstract: A damper used to damp roll vibration of an automotive power unit includes housing in which a disc is immersed in a highly viscous liquid, and a linkage which has universal joints formed at each end thereof. The linkage induces relative rotation between the housing and the disc. A resilient vibration attenuating arrangement is included in one or both of the universal joints for insulating the vehicle chassis from vibration which tends to be freely transmitted through the damper per se and cause cabin reverberation noise.

  • Patent number: 4899843
Abstract: A center member structure for use in a motor vehicle is disclosed which is designed to support thereon an engine unit. The center member structure comprises two pipe members arranged side by side and having first portions which extend in parallel and second portions which gradually separate from each other with increase of the distance from generally middle portions of the pipe members; and reinforcing plates welded to given portions of the pipe members to tightly combine the pipe members into a robust unit.

  • Patent number: 4809799
Abstract: A power unit mounting structure through which a power unit of an automotive vehicle is supported to a vehicle body. The power unit mounting structure consists of a vehicle body side mount bracket bolted at its one end section to the vehicle body, and a power unit side mount bracket securely connected at its one end section to a transmission case of the power unit. The other end sections of the vehicle body side and power unit side mount brackets are elastically connected through an insulator member with each other. The insulator member is securely disposed inside a rigid support member secured to the other end section of the vehicle body side mount bracket. The insulator member is located lower in level than a joint portion of the vehicle body side mount bracket with the vehicle body. Additionally, a support member is disposed between the insulator support member and a center frame member securely connected to the vehicle body at the joint portion, thereby reinforcing the vehicle body side mount bracket.
