Coded data for the saving of the image directed by the user is acquired from the image data source, such as by additionally acquiring coded data equivalent to a difference between the coded data for the saving and the coded data used for the display from the image data source, and synthesizing the coded data for the saving from the additionally acquired coded data and the coded data used for the display. The acquired coded data for the saving is saved in a storage unit.
