  • Patent number: 5717630
Abstract: A magnetic memory device comprises: a vertically magnetic recording medium; a probe formed of an electrically conductive as well as soft-magnetic material, a pointed end of the probe faces the magnetically recording medium across a gap; a magnetic flux detecting element for detecting a magnetic flux caught by the probe, where the magnetic flux is from a data recorded on the magnetically recording medium; a vertical controller for keeping the gap constant by the use of a tunnel current flowing via said gap into the probe while a voltage is applied across the gap; and a scan mechanism for scanning the probe along the magnetically recording medium. The magnetic memory device may further comprises an exciting coil for magnetizing the probe so as to write a data in the magnetically recording medium. • Patent number: 5583726
Abstract: A magneto-resistive (MR) head has an MR layer in a space formed by shield layers by providing a distance enough to protect magnetic flux, flowing through the MR layer from a recording medium through a gap formed by the shield layers, from leaking out to the shield layers. A flux guide is provided between the MR layer and the gap and has an end magnetically connected to the MR extending over an effective area of the MR head, and another end having a width a little narrower than a width of track of the recording medium. A side of the MR layer, opposite to the side connected with the flux guide layer is placed in a narrow space formed at a corner of the space. Magnetic flux leaked from the gap due to a sense current flowing through the MR layer is eliminated by making a current flow through a recording coil layer or through an electrically conductive layer placed in the space.

  • Patent number: 5127462
Abstract: A side wall construction for a continuous belt caster includes a metallic side wall body and a refractory layer attached on the central portion of the side wall body. The metallic side wall body has side edge portion extending substantially in flush with the the surface of the refractory layer. The refractory layer is formed with a center projection of essentially triangular cross-section. The height of the peak of the projection is gradually decreased toward downstream of transfer direction of the liquidus and solidus metal. On the other hand, it may be possible to formulate the refractory layer as double layer construction of a heat insulating refractory layer and a wear-resistantive refractory layer.

  • Patent number: 4974110
Abstract: A thin film magnetic head for perpendicularly recording and reproducing is disclosed. The magnetic head comprises a main magnetic pole of a thin film, a spiral coil of an electrically conductive film disposed on one side of the main magnetic pole, a first auxiliary magnetic pole of a thin film covering the coil, and a second auxiliary magnetic pole disposed on the other side of the main magnetic pole, forming a substrate or being formed on a non-magnetic substrate. The distributed magnetic leakage path between the main magnetic pole and the second auxiliary magnetic pole plays an important role in the present invention. When the second auxiliary magnetic pole is properly arranged, the magnetic flux flowing through two magnetic paths and interlinking the coil, are cancelled by each other and edge noise due to magnetic flux generated at the second auxiliarly magnetic pole by a magnetic transition of the recording medium is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4553604
Abstract: Control method for preventing a breakout or/and a crack of the slab of continuous casting equipment. Heat flux waveforms or heat flux values commensurate to extracted heat values at various positions of a mold are measured by means of thin plate type surface heat flux meters (14, 14x, 14y, 14z) provided at various positions on side shell plate (11, 11c) of the mold (10). When an abnormality or a deviation from a target value is detected, pouring rate is changed, scope of supply, brands and the like of mold powder are controlled, or taper value of short sides of the mold is controlled, so that a breakout or/and a crack of the slab is prevented.
