Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a method for generating vibration and a vibration generating apparatus for allowing a single unit to provide a call signal by way of sound and body-sensible vibration. According to the method for generating vibration of the invention, first and second vibration systems having different resonance frequencies from each other are magnetically coupled to each other and a state of energy externally supplied to the systems is selected thereby causing the first vibration system to vibrate relative to the second vibration system for generating a body-sensible vibration, for example. By changing the state of the energy, the second vibration system is caused to vibrate relative to the first vibration system for generating sound.

Abstract: A power supply unit of the present invention comprises a group of batteries including plural rows of cells arranged in parallel, each row of cells including plural cylindrical cells connected in series. The power supply unit further comprises refrigerant passages comprising main refrigerant passages exposed to the cells arranged in each row of cells and auxiliary refrigerant passages, the upstream sides of the auxiliary refrigerant passages being isolated from the rows of cells, and the downstream sides thereof being connected to the main refrigerant passages at positions corresponding to the midstream or downstream sides of the rows of cells.

Abstract: A magnetic recording apparatus includes an arm, an airvane, a regulating member, and an urging member. The arm has a head slider including a magnetic head at a free end thereof, and is moved by an actuator device between a scan position and a stop position. The arm scans a surface of a disk for reading and/or writing information thereon at the scan position. The head slider is elastically supported on the arm by a flexure. The airvane is disposed adjacent to the disk, and is urged to a first position in opposition to a direction of air flow generated by rotation of the disk. The airvane moves in response to air flow generated by rotation of the disk to a second position in the direction of the air flow. The regulating member is provided at a position corresponding to the stop position of the arm and connected with the airvane.

Abstract: An optical sensor comprising a light detector, a converging lens located between the light detector and a light source, the light rays from which are detected by the light detector, and a light shielding means provided on a part of the converging lens, the shielding means shielding light rays emitted from the light source, thereby reducing dependence of the amount of light rays to be detected upon angles of incidence with which the light rays enter into the converging lens of the optical sensor.
