  • Patent number: 6845678
Abstract: A spectacle frame shape measuring apparatus includes a measurement element holding mechanism. The measurement element holding mechanism holds a measurement element in a substantially loadless state along a frame groove formed in the inner circumferential surface of a rim of a spectacle frame. The measurement element holding mechanism includes a rod, balance spring, and evacuating mechanism. The rod is vertically movable and has an upper end portion on which the measurement element is mounted. The balance spring pushes the rod upward to hold the measurement element at a loading position during shape measurement. The evacuating mechanism regularly evacuates the measurement element to an evacuation position, thereby performing three-dimensional measurement of a rim shape. A spectacle frame shape measuring apparatus holder is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6750959
Abstract: A method and apparatus enabling the placement of a mark on a lens at a desired position, easily and rapidly, without damaging the lens. The method comprising (1) the step of measuring a lens in which the optical properties and the reference position of the spectacle lens are measured and (2) the step of processing in which the lens is processed based on the optical information obtained in the step of measuring a lens. In the step of measuring a lens, the optical properties of the lens, such as the prism value, are measured using a desirable position selected as on the uncut lens as the position of measurement. An an optical reference position, such as the optical center, is calculated, a guiding mark is placed at the calculated position the relationship between the mark and the optical reference position is used in subsequent cut processing.

  • Patent number: 6328630
Abstract: The following was done in order to mechanically polish a bevel face after bevel finishing without manually polishing and thereby speed up the polishing process and improve uniformity of finishing precision, as well as obtain fashionable eyeglasses: That is, a polishing wheel for polishing a bevel with a bevel polishing groove the shape of which essentially matches the bevel faces of the finished lens is used. The bevel is polished in two processes using said wheel. During the first process, the apex position of the bevel in the finished lens is displaced from the bevel-groove center position of the bevel polishing groove in the wheel to the concave side of the lens and the polishing allowance on the concave side of the bevel faces is polished.

  • Patent number: 4945684
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for processing a peripheral edge of a lens for spectacles are arranged such that a configuration of a lens frame of a spectacle framework is measured, and the peripheral edge of the spectacle lens is ground on the basis of data on the lens-frame configuration obtained by the measurement. In the method and apparatus, a locus of a center of a disc-shaped measuring probe moving along an inner periphery of the lens frame of the spectacle framework is first measured, and an envelope is obtained which is located on the outside of circles each having a center located on said locus and a radius equal to the sum of a radius of a columnar grindstone and a radius of the measuring probe. A rotational axis of an unprocessed lens is moved along said envelope relatively to a rotational axis of the columnar grindstone, to process a peripheral edge of the unprocessed lens.
