  • Patent number: 4354686
Abstract: An improved contact-free sealing member for sealing an isolated chamber comprising a slot path for passing a tape therethrough, wherein a hydrostatic gas bearing is produced in a slot path formed in the sealing member so as to provide a contact-free tape feeding through the slot path and a superior sealing effect by the sealing member.

  • Patent number: 4310130
Abstract: A tape for a magnetic tape recorder or the like is taken up while the barometric pressure around the part of the take-up reel where the tape is being wound is kept below atmospheric pressure. The tape can thus be taken up in a stable manner at a high speed, by eliminating the tape floating force which is the basic cause of irregular take-up phenomenon.

  • Patent number: 4251840
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotary head assembly for a magnetic recording and reproducing device such as VTR. A stationary center shaft is mounted on the side of a stationary cylinder while a rotary sleeve which is fitted over said stationary center shaft for rotation about the axis thereof is disposed on the side of a rotary cylinder. A lubricating oil is injected between the rotary sleeve and the stationary center shaft so that a space between the cylinders may be utilized so as to provide a hydraulic bearing portion. Thus, the rotary head assembly may be made compact in size and to a higher degree of accuracy. In addition, the thrust load carrying point of the hydraulic bearing portion is located on the side of the rotary cylinder, and the portion adjacent to the thrust load carrying point has a sealing arrangement or construction so as to prevent the leakage of lubricating oil and to stabilize the rotation of the rotary cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4144838
Abstract: A die coating apparatus for applying coating solution onto materials such as wires. The apparatus includes a radial bearing in a position adjacent and prior to a floating die with respect to the advancing direction of the material to be coated, so that the material to be coated after having passed through the coating solution is passed through the radial bearing before advancing into the floating die. Thus, the undesirable lateral vibration of the material to be coated at the floating die is prevented and a coating film of uniform thickness is obtained on the material to be coated.

  • Patent number: 4130676
Abstract: A coating apparatus of die coating type for applying coating solution onto materials such as wires to be coated which includes a floating die having a hole therethrough gradually narrowing in the direction of advance of the material to be coated for allowing the material after having passed through the coating solution to pass through the die, and a thrust bearing provided with lubricating means for reducing the friction in the radial direction and disposed at the outlet side of the floating die in a direction normal to the path of advance of the material to be coated for improved follow-up performance of the floating die with respect to the lateral movements of the advancing material to obtain a uniform coating film on the material to be coated.
