  • Patent number: 7777768
Abstract: An image forming apparatus is capable of printing half-toned images of high quality. The image forming apparatus includes a photoconductive body and a light emitting element array. A plurality of light emitting elements is aligned in the light emitting element array. Each light emitting element array emits light to form an electrostatic latent image of a pixel on the photoconductive drum. A controller controllably drives the plurality of light emitting elements to form the electrostatic latent image, each pixel being formed by a combination of a total of N (N>1) light emitting elements. Each element of the N light emitting elements is driven with a different amount of energy from remainders of the N light emitting elements.

  • Patent number: 7770987
Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of detecting a precise toner consumption amount has a system counting up a turned-on dot number of image data, outputting weight factors corresponding to the respective sub-line's numbers based on the respective sub-line numbers of the plural sub-lines at which a light emitting amount of each dot is varied periodically, and calculating the light emitting amount based on a dot counter value of the turned-on dot number and the weight factor corresponding to the respective sub-line's numbers, to summate the calculated light emitting amounts to estimate the toner consumption amount with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 6916131
Abstract: A tandem-type image forming device is provided which includes a plurality of photosensitive drums, a paper edge detecting section to detect a front edge and a rear edge of a sheet of paper, an exposure starting time calculating unit for each of a plurality of photosensitive drums, an exposure inhibiting time calculating unit to inhibit printing, when paper having a length being smaller than a predetermined length of the paper is inserted, on a portion being shorter than preset paper, and a control section to control an entire image forming device. By configuring as above, the tandem-type image forming device can be realized by using only one paper edge detecting sensor and only one detecting circuit. Even when paper having a length being smaller than a preset length of the paper is inserted, no transfer of an image to a place outside of the paper, that is, to a carrying belt occurs.
