  • Patent number: 4677602
Abstract: A device for controlling recording track jump operations includes a tracking servo loop which is activated when a data detecting point is traversed from an initial recording track on a recording disk to a target recording track. Circuitry is provided for accurate compensation in the event of overshooting the target recording track. A jump signal generating circuit may also be provided to reduce the frequency of generated traverse signals from a first frequency level to a second, lower frequency level when the data detecting point is a selected number of recording tracks away from the target recording track, or to gradually reduce the speed which the data detecting point traverses the recording tracks as the data detecting point moves from the initial recording track to the target recording track.

  • Patent number: 4646278
Abstract: A pick-up positioning apparatus for a recording disc playback apparatus such as a video disc player, comprising a control circuit, a memory circuit, a scanning mechanism for moving the pick-up of the playback apparatus along a radius of a recording disc mounted on the playback apparatus, and pick-up sensing circuit for producing signals to indicate the current pick-up position along that radial direction. When a disc is first set on the playback apparatus, the scanning mechanism moves the pick-up along the radial direction to thereby successively read out a number of addresses recorded on the disc, which are stored in the memory circuit together with corresponding position data. Subsequently, to search for a specified address position on the disc, the address stored in the memory circuit which is closest to the specified address is read out and the corresponding stored position data is used in moving the pick-up close to the specified address position.

  • Patent number: 4609948
Abstract: A time base control unit in an apparatus for reproducing recorded information from a disc is provided, which comprises information reproduction processing means for reading and processing the recorded information, disc rotating means, tracking servo means for jumping an information read-spot, sync separating means for separating a sync signal from the information signal read, reference signal generating means, means for detecting a relation between the sync and reference signals and for outputting a phase difference signal, and time base servo means for compensating the time base fluctuation of the reproduction information signal in response to the phase difference signal. The reference signal generating means serves to coincide the phases of the sync signal and the reference signal before and after the jumping operation in order to permit the time base servo control such as spindle servo or tangential servo to be locked-in immediately after the jumping operation of the read-spot.

  • Patent number: 4539602
Abstract: A time axis correction device for a recording medium player such as a video disc player, which device corrects the time axis of at least one component signal of a plurality of component signals contained in a multiplex information-carrying signal which is picked up from a recording medium, in accordance with an error between a reference signal and a pilot signal separated from the multiplex information-carrying signal, so that the time axis correction operation is performed stably.

  • Patent number: 4528599
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording a color video signal on a recording medium such as video disk in which effects of crosstalk between adjacent recorded tracks are eliminated and the level and phase of the subcarrier signal are maintained constant. The video signal to be recorded is processed so that the phase of the subcarrier signal is constant from frame to frame of the video signal. The video signal thus processed is recorded utilizing an FM modulation system. Specifically, the video signal is separated into a luminance signal and a subcarrier signal. Subcarrier signals to be recorded on adjacent recording tracks are superposed on the luminance signal after processing of the video signal.

  • Patent number: 4430152
Abstract: A metal layer exposed by dry etching a phosphosilicate glass (PSG) layer covering the metal layer is insufficiently reliable when an electrical connection is made by bonding wire to the metal layer or depositing another metal layer on the metal layer. This insufficiency is due to the presence of a phosphorous residue on the surface of the exposed metal layer. The phosphorous residue is preferably removed by treating the surface of the metal layer with an alkaline solution so that the PSG layer, the metal layer, and the semiconductor device in which the connection is made are not affected.

  • Patent number: 4280215
Abstract: A focussing lens servo driving device for an optical information reading device in which the lens is first driven towards the focussed position with a controlling servo circuit operated in an open loop mode. Once the lens has passed a predetermined position an opposition force is produced in dependance on the lens position. The opposition force is gradually reduced and the servo loop is closed when the lens has been turned back to the predetermined position so that stable operation is provided.

  • Patent number: 4268745
Abstract: A tracking servo drawing device in an optical type information reading device utilizes a tracking servo to allow an irradiation light beam to track a record track on an information record surface to read information by using said irradiation light beam illuminating said record surface. A speed detection circuit is used to sense a relative speed of the record track and the irradiation light beam at which the irradiation light beam goes across the video track. When the relative speed is lower than predetermined value, a first detection signal is produced. A signal level detection circuit detects the reproduction signal level of the information. When the level reaches a predetermined value, a second detection signal is produced. When the first and second detection signals are produced simultaneously an instruction signal is generated to close the servo loop of said tracking servo means.
