Patent number: 10031128Abstract: A screening method evaluates influence of a cytotoxic factor on lymphoid cells. The method includes administering or irradiating lymphoid cells with the cytotoxic factor that injures the lymphoid cells; incubating the lymphoid cells to which the cytotoxic factor is administered or irradiated for a selected time; measuring a cell size of the lymphoid cells after the incubation; and determining influence of the cytotoxic factor on the lymphoid cells based on a change of the cell size. According to this method, influence of radiation or a drug, or efficacy of radiation, a radiation-protecting agent, an antioxidant, a radiation-sensitizing agent, a drug, or ultraviolet rays can be evaluated economically and objectively in a short period of time.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2013Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: NATIONAL INSTITUTES FOR QUANTUM AND RADIOLOGICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYInventors: Emiko Sekine, Takashi Shimokawa, Megumi Ueno, Etsuko Nakamura, Miyako Nakawatari, Takeshi Murakami, Takashi Imai, Kazunori Anzai, Kenichiro Matsumoto, Ikuo Nakanishi

Patent number: 8824105Abstract: A pivot bearing 13 includes: a shaft 21; and a plurality of ball bearings 20 which are arranged in an axial direction with respect to the shaft 21 and each of which has an inner ring 27 fixed to the shaft 21 and an outer ring 25 fixed to a fixing hole 18 of an arm 16 via a tolerance ring 12, the pivot bearing being configured to swing around the shaft. The number of balls of each ball bearing 20 and the number of concave portions of the tolerance ring 12, which are configured to press the outer ring 25, are relatively prime to each other. Accordingly, it is possible to inexpensively make the reliable pivot bearing that achieves high precision with a simple structure, and thus a reliable high density magnetic recording apparatus is provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Kouichi Yanagawa, Hiroshi Nishizawa, Takashi Shimokawa

Patent number: 8441359Abstract: A fire distinguishing device includes: a detection device which detects an outbreak of a fire; a fire presence/absence distinguishing device which distinguishes the presence or absence of the fire; and a cumulative time determining device which determines the cumulative time required for distinguishing the presence or absence of the fire, in the fire presence/absence distinguishing device. The cumulative time determining device distinguishes an environment type of an environment where the detection device is installed, or a phenomenon type of a phenomenon being detected by the detection device, and further determines the cumulative time according to the distinguished environment type or phenomenon type.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2008Date of Patent: May 14, 2013Assignee: Hochiki CorporationInventors: Kumiko Ando, Atsushi Mammoto, Isao Asano, Hiroshi Nishizaki, Takashi Shimokawa, Sadataka Yuchi

Patent number: 5475363Abstract: A disaster prevention monitor is disclosed in which the power consumption during a line monitoring process is reduced, and a disconnection or a short circuit of control lines can be detected by using a single switching means. A central station has a monitor command transmitter for transmitting a monitor command signal to initiate monitoring of power and control lines. A terminal or repeater station has circuitry for controlling the connection of control lines between a line monitor and power lines. During normal conditions, the control lines are not connected to the power lines, but become so connected only in response to a command from the central station. A line monitoring command causes generation of a negative voltage which is applied to line monitoring circuitry to actuate such circuitry for monitoring the status of the power and control lines.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Hochiki CorporationInventors: Munemasa Suzuki, Kiyoaki Koyama, Takashi Shimokawa
