Publication number: 20210182696Abstract: It is preferable to predict an objective variable by optimally selecting or combining the output of a plurality of models. A computer-implemented method is provided that calculates, for each of a plurality of models, a relevance of an output of the model with respect to a value of an objective variable based on the value of the objective variable and the output of the model in the past. The method also calculates, for each of the plurality of models, similarities between a current timing and a plurality of past timings based on the output of the model at the current timing, the output of the model at the plurality of past timings, and the relevance. Additionally, the method predicts the value of the objective variable at a target timing based on the similarities.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2019Publication date: June 17, 2021Inventors: Tetsuro Morimura, Takashi Yonezawa, Takehiko Yasukawa

Patent number: 9128187Abstract: A method and associated system for estimating a position of an object. A radio wave is received from each radio frequency identification (RFID) tag of N RFID tags affixed to the object at different positions at the object (N?2). A position of each RFID tag is detected from the received radio waves. A position of each RFID tag is estimated from analysis of the detected positions. The estimating includes utilizing, for n=1, 2, . . . , N, a specified probability function P(?pn|pn) denoting a probability that the estimated position of RFID tag n is ?pn if the detected position of RFID tag n is pn, wherein ?pn and pn are vectors from an origin of a coordinate system to the detected position and the estimated position, respectively, of the RFID tag n. The position of the object is ascertained from analysis of the estimated positions.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2012Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Yamato Kamaya, Satoru Nishi, Makoto Tanibayashi, Takashi Yonezawa

Patent number: 8775767Abstract: A method, and associated system, for allocating memory to a first pipeline that includes a sequence of filters. Each filter is configured to execute a process specific to each filter, receive input data, and generate output data. The output data from each filter, except the last filter in the sequence, serves as the input data to the next filter in the sequence. An optimum memory capacity is allocated to the first pipeline if possible. Otherwise, a guaranteed memory bandwidth is allocated to the first pipeline if possible. Otherwise, extra memory currently allocated to a second pipeline is currently released if the second pipeline not currently performing processing or subsequently released when the second pipeline subsequently completes performing processing that is currently being performed, followed by allocating the extra memory to the first pipeline.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2011Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Atsushi Fukuda, Masakuni Okada, Kazuto Yamafuji, Takashi Yonezawa

Patent number: 7444496Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for determining the consistency of a database including indirect reference to data elements. There is provided an apparatus for determining consistency of a database. This database includes, in association with each data element, an indirect list element including a storage address of the associated or corresponding data element so that other data elements can reference that data element. This apparatus reads, from each data element, identification information of an indirect list element corresponding to that data element and generates a hash value. This apparatus further reads, from each data element, identification information of an indirect list element corresponding to a data element referenced by that data element and generates a hash value. On condition that these hash values are equivalent to each other, the apparatus determines that the database is consistent.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2006Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Tatsuyuki Shiomi, Shigeko Mori, Takashi Yonezawa
