  • Patent number: 7227664
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of printing application data. In this method, a print request and ASP certification data for accessing an application server are transmitted from a client computer to a printer of a print shop connected to the client computer and the service provider via a network capable of providing an application service, such as the Internet available for unspecified users. The printer is operable to access the application server directly according to the ASP certification data so as to receive print data from the application server and output the print data. The present invention can solve problems caused when the client computer issues a print request to the printer of the print shop via the network, so that the requirement for the client computer to acquire application software from the application server is eliminated to provide a reduced time-period of a printing operation.

  • Patent number: 6690382
Abstract: An electronic display device that allows the hierarchy or system to which the display screen belongs to be easily identified, without narrowing the display area of a plurality of screens constituting a director structure. In the display device, a plurality of key input screens form a director structure in association with each other. The directory structure includes first to fourth hierarchy levels. Respective key input screens are located at any of the hierarchy. Upon depression of a transition key in a basic screen belonging to the first hierarchy, the display screen is switched to one of key input screens belonging to the second hierarchy. The display device changes the display color according to the hierarchy to which the key input screen belongs in providing a display of a key input screen.

  • Publication number: 20030133150
Abstract: In a print system including a server holding an application program connected to a network. In a client computer, when a print request for data obtained by the application program is received, client information and a request to make print data for the data are requested to the server. In the server, print data are made according to print control information according to the received client information, the print data is sent.

  • Publication number: 20030133151
Abstract: In a print system includes a server holding an application program, in the client computer, when a print request is accepted for data obtained by the application program, an identifier in correspondence to the print request and a request to make print data for the data are sent to the server, while a print request, an identifier in correspondence to the print request, and print control information not dependent on the application program are sent to the printer. In the printer, when the identifier in correspondence to the print request accepted from the client computer is the same as that that received from the server, the print data is printed according to the print control information.

  • Publication number: 20030135549
Abstract: In a print system, an application server holds an application program. A client computer uses the application program, and data obtained by the application program is printed by a printer. The server acquires a printer driver according to the client information. The application program obtains print data by using the printer driver and sends the print data to the client computer or the printer. Thus, the application program automatically changes the printer driver according to the client information or user.

  • Patent number: 6331900
Abstract: Disclosed is an image forming apparatus having a memory recall function and a serial number printing function. In a case where a user selects the both function after printing of a specific print job, a controller of the image forming apparatus automatically calculates a starting serial number which is to be added to a first sets of prints of the next job.

  • Patent number: 6038040
Abstract: An image forming apparatus stores a plurality of jobs. When a process for a job is temporarily stopped due to any trouble of the apparatus or interruption, the job is not automatically resumed if an image reader and a printer operate for the same job. If the image reader and the printer operate for different jobs, only the printing operation is automatically resumed. In this case, the reading operation of the image reader is not automatically resumed.

  • Patent number: 5907744
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, first in a printing delay process, it is determined whether or not a specific mode is set. When it is determined that a specific mode is set, printing is inhibited until images to be printed are accumulated in a memory, and whether or not originals are mixed originals (of assorted sizes) is detected. If it is determined that originals are mixed ones, start of printing is inhibited. Since printing cannot be executed when a specific mode in which mixed originals cannot be handled is set, an image forming apparatus capable of automatically handling mixed originals can be provided.
