Patent number: 10837347Abstract: A control method and a control device are provided for an internal combustion engine structured to vary a mechanical compression ratio by varying a range of slide of a piston with respect to a cylinder bore, and structured to control a flow of cooling water in a water jacket formed around the cylinder bore, wherein variation of the mechanical compression ratio causes the piston to slide on a corroded portion formed in the cylinder bore. A control process includes: acquiring a temperature correlating with a cylinder bore wall temperature; and stopping the flow of cooling water in the water jacket, in response to a condition that the acquired temperature is lower than a preset temperature point.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2017Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: NISSAN MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Hiroaki Hoshikawa, Kakuzou Kaneko, Tomohiro Kawata, Takayoshi Ichihara, Kazuo Muraki

Patent number: 8016206Abstract: An air conditioning system for automobile having a heater core capable of heating the interior in good efficiency is to be provided. Such a heater core is supplied with the coolant having bubbles removed, and thereby the efficiency of heat exchange is enhanced and the noise is reduced. On the internal combustion engine is mounted a water outlet (bubble separating means) 3 having a receiving chamber 8 that the coolant after cooling the engine flows in. In the downstream position of the chamber 8 is formed a communicating portion 9 of narrowed sectional area and a feeding chamber 10 of increased sectional area in turn. The flowing velocity of the coolant is increased in the communicating portion 9 and decreased in the feeding chamber 10 and thereby it is possible to make bubbles in the coolant float up and separate out. As a result, the coolant without bubbles may be fed to the heater core 7 through a feeding portion 11.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2005Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignees: Aichi Machine Industry Co., Ltd., Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Norio Ito, Takayoshi Ichihara

Patent number: 7308870Abstract: A cooling system for an internal combustion engine in which bubbles are not transferred to the water pump, and thereby the efficiency of the water pump is maintained. The interior of a water outlet mounted on a cylinder head is divided by a partition wall to form a feeding chamber to feed the coolant introduced from the cylinder head to a first path provided with a radiator, and a receiving chamber forming a second path to receive the coolant returned from a heater core. Between the receiving chamber and the feeding chamber is a channel making one or both chambers communicate with the other. As a result, bubbles in the coolant running through the second path are introduced into the feeding chamber through the channel and removed from the radiator.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2005Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Assignees: Aichi Machine Industry Co., Ltd., Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masatoshi Hada, Takayoshi Ichihara
