  • Patent number: 7460194
Abstract: A flat display device includes a display panel, a frame which holds the display panel, and a frame-shaped bezel which is fixed to the frame and holds the display panel on the frame. The bezel has a surface portion, side face portion, reverse portion, fixed portion, and stress easing portion. The surface portion has an end side on the boundary with a display region of the display panel and covers a first main surface of the display panel with the display region exposed. The side face portion covers at least a part of a side face of the frame. The reverse portion extends covering at least a part of a reverse surface of the frame. The fixed portion is provided on the reverse portion and fixed to the frame. The stress easing portion is situated near a shortest path extending from the fixed portion of the bezel toward the end side and eases stress in a direction such that the surface portion and the display panel are separated from each other.

  • Patent number: 7293905
Abstract: An area light source device includes a light source, a light guide including a first side surface on which emission light from the light source is incident, and a first major surface and a second major surface, which are opposed to each other and from which the incident light on the first side surface emerges, an optical sheet that is disposed on the second major surface side of the light guide and has a reflective surface on a side thereof that is opposed to the second major surface, and a film member that is disposed between the light guide and the optical sheet, has light transmissivity and has a projection-and-recess-shaped portion on a surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 7113235
Abstract: A spring member 31 includes side, upper and lower plates 32, 33 and 34 and a cut-out portion 35 on its upper plate 33 for positioning. The upper and lower plates 33 and 34 define an opening. The spring member 31 receives an assembling member or bezel 24 and a rear light unit 2 with the cut-out portion 35 engaged in an upper plate 23 of the bezel 24 and puts them together while a liquid crystal display panel 12 is held between the bezel 24 and the light unit 2. The upper plate 23 of the bezel 24 has a step 25 for positioning of the spring member 31. Due to elasticity of the upper and lower plates 33 and 34 of the spring member 31, the bezel 24 and the light unit 2 are compressively held with a constant distance defined between them by the spring member 31. An optical sheet 11 covers the liquid crystal display panel uniformly.

  • Patent number: 6424391
Abstract: A flat-panel display device is provided, that does not allow deformation due to fastening forces of a male screw even despite a gap which is created by a dimensional tolerance or the like between a bezel disposed to a display cell and a housing. Female screws 26 formed in a bezel 22 are deformable in a direction toward an inner surface of the housing 25. The fastening force of male screws 27, which penetrates a side wall portion 25a of the housing 25 in which the display cell 11 is housed and a side-surface portion 24 of the bezel 22 and which engages with the female screws 26 formed in the bezel 22, does not cause large deformation.
