Patent number: 7227447Abstract: A switch device is provided that ensures formation of a communicable area by a coil antenna. The switch device includes an ignition switch operated by an operator for driving an engine starter, a decorative cap arranged to surround the ignition switch and having an ornamental surface, and the coil antenna arranged adjacent to the decorative cap for transmitting a transponder-driving radio wave. The decorative cap includes a transmittable area that can transmit the transponder-driving radio wave therethrough. The transmittable area is formed in a part of the decorative cap excluding the ornamental surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2004Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Kiyokazu Ohtaki, Takayuki Hiramitsu, Daisuke Kawamura, Tomoyuki Funayama, Koji Iwamoto

Patent number: 7199710Abstract: A controller enabling switching between a smart function and an immobilizer function without using a key cylinder or a slot. The controller includes a verification ECU for transmitting a request signal to a first area and transmitting a transponder drive radio wave to a second area. The portable device transmits an ID code signal in response to the request signal or the transponder drive radio wave. The verification ECU enables the starting of an engine when the ID code transmitted from the portable device matches an ID code of the controller. The verification ECU transmits the drive radio wave when a driver operates a switch in a state in which the starting of the engine is not enabled after the request signal is transmitted.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2004Date of Patent: April 3, 2007Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki, Seisakusho & Toyota Jidosha KabushikiInventors: Takayuki Hiramitsu, Masayuki Kawamura, Kiyokazu Ohtaki, Yoshihito Mizuno, Hiroyasu Hasegawa, Daisuke Kawamura, Toshikazu Mizutani, Tomoyuki Funayama, Teruya Tomiyasu, Koji Iwamoto, Noriyasu Onishi

Patent number: 7193334Abstract: A controller for an electronic key system including a portable device and an engine. When the ID code of the portable device cannot be authenticated, the controller instructs the driver of the necessary operations. When a transmitter circuit is transmitting a request signal but a receiver circuit does not receive a signal including an ID code matching the ID code stored in a memory, an authentication ECU authenticates a transponder code of the portable device with a stored transponder code to enable the starting of the engine. The authentication ECU displays the necessary operations for performing transponder code authentication.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2005Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Takayuki Hiramitsu, Kiyokazu Ohtaki, Tomohiro Ohmura, Toshiki Akita, Teruya Tomiyasu, Noriyasu Onishi, Manabu Mizutani

Patent number: 7068223Abstract: A three-axis antenna chip includes a cross-shaped core made of a magnetic substance. The core includes an X-axis core piece and a Y-axis core piece. The core pieces are laid on top of each other such that the core pieces extend perpendicular to each other. An X-axis coil portion is provided about the X-axis core piece, and a Y-axis coil portion is provided about the Y-axis core piece. A Z-axis coil portion is provided about a Z-axis that is perpendicular to the X-axis core piece and the Y-axis core piece. The three-axis antenna chip thus constructed is advantageous in reducing the size.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2003Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Yutaka Yoshida, Takayuki Hiramitsu, Akihito Kimura, Hirofumi Okada
