Abstract: When an initial character is specified by striking a character input key, the first destination candidate, according to the alphabetical order, is displayed. After this, in response to each striking of the same character input key, the display screen is switched to displaying the next destination candidate. In particular, when there is no more next destination candidate having the character specified by the character input key as its initial character, the turn returns to the first destination candidate having the same character as its initial character and this destination candidate is displayed.

Abstract: In a network scanner for reading an original document and forwarding read data to a designated terminal connected to a network, an operating panel provided on the network scanner allows a destination and other image data processing conditions to be entered from the scanner. Therefore, an operator can determine the various processing conditions as well as the destination of the transmission data from the scanner so that the operator is not required to travel back and forth between the scanner and terminal and the work efficiency can be improved.

Abstract: A prediction section sends a prediction signal to a heater control section when receiving a document setting signal from a sensor for detecting a presence of a document or a book door open signal from a book door open/close sensor. The heater control section turns on power of the heater of a print section. Thereafter, a print control section executes a print operation when a print designation is operated, and turns off power of the heater when no print designation is operated within a fixed period of time or a transmission designation is operated. Therefore, power of the heater is turned on prior to instruction of a print start, and this allows the reduction of time from the operators instruction of the print start to the actual print start.
