Abstract: According to one embodiment, an information processing apparatus includes a processor which executes an operating system and an application, a first real time clock including a function of supplying time and date information to the operating system at a time when the operating system is booted, and an alarm function of booting the operating system at a set time and date, a second real time clock including a function of measuring a time and date, and a time and date information transmission processing unit which executes authentication processing and which executes processing of transmitting information to change the time and date measured by the second real time clock in a case where the authentication processing has been successful.

Abstract: A port arbitration unit of a system controller arbitrates a data transfer of each PCI Express device connected to several ports in accordance with the content of a register. A BIOS-ROM is stored with a port arbitration table group for setting the register to preferentially select the connected device for each PCI Express device. A system BIOS is stored in the BIOS-ROM, and executed by a CPU. The system BIOS selects any port arbitration table from several port arbitration tables based on user's choice, and sets the register to preferentially select the PCI Express device selected by user.

Abstract: In a write process of compressed data #1, data transfer for one sector from a CPU to an HDD, and a local write for one sector by the HDD repeat themselves for 256 sectors. During the write process period, the system BIOS compresses data of the next data block by utilizing the period in which a local write is made by the HDD. That is, upon completion of data transfer for one sector, the system BIOS waits for completion of the local write for one sector by the HDD, and then transfers the next data for one sector. During that local write completion wait period, the system BIOS compresses the next data.
