  • Patent number: 5570224
Abstract: An optical scanning apparatus includes: a light source for emitting a laser light ray; a cylinder lens for converting the laser light ray into a first convergent light ray that converges only in a sub-scanning direction and remains unchanged in a main scanning direction; a deflection unit for deflecting the first convergent light ray from the cylinder lens; a focusing unit for converting the deflected light ray into a second convergent light ray that converges in the main scanning direction, and for focusing the second convergent light ray on a scanned surface as a light spot; an aperture unit, arranged between the light source and the deflection unit, for blocking an outer peripheral portion of the laser light ray and for restricting a width of the laser light ray in the sub-scanning direction to a first width of an aperture of the aperture unit; and an adjusting unit for adjusting the first width of the aperture of the aperture unit so as to eliminate a deviation of the diameter of the light spot on the sca

  • Patent number: 5161047
Abstract: An optical scanner having a deflecting device for reflecting and deflecting a laser beam issued from a light source device with a reflective surface thereof, and image forming optics for focusing the deflected laser beam onto a target surface to form a beam spot. A first aperture is interposed between the light source device and the deflecting device for correcting the diameter of the beam spot to be formed on the target surface. A second aperture is located on an optical axis between the first aperture and the target surface for intercepting, at least in a direction corresponding to subscanning, part of the light diffracted by the first aperture which lies outwardly of the first minimums.

  • Patent number: 5157534
Abstract: An optical scanner has a light source device; a lens for converging a laser beam emitted from the light source device; a deflector having a mirror face which is integrally formed with the shaft of a scanner motor and is constructed by one convex spherical or cylindrical mirror face having a radius R and approximately arranged in the vicinity of a center of rotation of the shaft of the scanner motor; and a scanning face scanned by a light beam deflected by the deflector. The optical scanner satisfies a predetermined relation with respect to the radius R when a distance L.sub.O from a deflecting point to the scanning face at an angle of rotation of the deflector set to zero is equal to a distance L from the deflecting point to the scanning face at the angle of rotation of the deflector set to .theta.. The predetermined relation is provided by the following formula:R={(1/cos.theta.)+cos.theta./(1+cos.theta.)-1}L.sub.oThe light source device uses an element for emitting two or more light beams.
