  • Patent number: 6256558
Abstract: A vehicle display system which keeps a driver from inputting data into the system while driving a vehicle, but which permits a person in the front passenger seat to perform the data input operations. A main ECU inhibits data input operations, such as map retrieval, destination setting, and telephone number input operations, when it determines that the driver is driving the vehicle, i.e., when the vehicle is moving. However, when the driver grips the steering wheel and thereby depresses drive enforcement releasing switches located on the vehicle steering wheel, the main ECU releases the drive enforcement state, thereby enabling passengers other than the driver to perform data input operations.

  • Patent number: 4663717
Abstract: In a fuel control system for an internal combustion engine, high and low voltages are applied in succession to an oxygen sensor, the difference between currents generated successively by the sensor in response to the application of the voltages being detected and compared with a predetermined value. The ratio of air-fuel mixture is controlled as a function of the current generated by the sensor in response to the application of one of the high and low voltages when the difference is smaller than the predetermined value and controlled in an open loop mode when the difference is larger than the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4638403
Abstract: A gas-insulated switchgear apparatus is disclosed, in which a bus bar-dividing unit is interposed through main bus bars between feeder units connected to a transmission line or a transformer. The main bus bars are arranged in substantially the same axis. A circuit breaker of vertical type making up the bus bar-dividing unit includes an upper electric path and a lower electric path. The lower electric path is connected to one of the main bus bars while the upper electric path is connected to the other main bus bar at a position displaced axially of the main bus bar opposed to the circuit breaker of vertical type. This construction with the circuit breakers of vertical type arranged on the same axis facilitates maintenance and inspection.

  • Patent number: 4574761
Abstract: In an electronic fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine, a first integration circuit is responsive to an angular signal with a time period in inverse proportion to the rotational speed of the engine for integrating the first half of the time period of the angular signal and for producing a first integration signal indicative of a resultant value of the integration, a hold circuit is arranged to hold the value of the first integration signal upon lapse of the first half of the time period and to produce a hold signal of the held value and maintain it for the second half of the time period and the first half of the time period of the following angular signal, a second integration circuit is responsive to the angular signal for integrating the value of an air quantity signal indicative of the quantity of air drawn into the engine at each start of the first and second halves of the time period and for producing a second integration signal indicative of a resultant value of the integration

  • Patent number: 4546747
Abstract: A mixture control system comprises an oxygen sensor for generating a sensor signal varying linearly as a function of the oxygen concentration of exhaust emissions from an internal combustion engine when the air-fuel ratio of mixture supplied thereto is leaner than stoichiometric value. Optimum values of the sensor signal are stored in storage locations of a memory addressable as a function of detected engine operating parameters. A data processor determines the quantity of fuel to be supplied to the engine in accordance with the detected engine operating parameters, addresses the memory as a function of the detected engine operating parameters, detects a difference between the sensor signal and a signal addressed in the memory, integrates the difference and corrects the fuel quantity with the integrated value.

  • Patent number: 4348727
Abstract: The basic fuel injection amount determined in accordance with the rpm and the amount of air drawn into an engine is corrected by first, second and third compensation amounts determined in accordance with the engine operating conditions. The second compensation amount is varied by a predetermined value in response to the output of an O.sub.2 sensor at intervals of a predetermined time. The third compensation amount is read out from the location of a non-volatile memory addressed in accordance with the engine rpm and the intake air amount, varied by another predetermined value at intervals of another predetermined time in accordance with the value of the second compensation amount and stored again in the location from which it was read out. Before starting the compensation of the fuel injection amount, the particular bit pattern stored in the non-volatile memory is checked so as to self-check the third compensation amount data in the non-volatile memory.

  • Patent number: 4031347
Abstract: Spark gap apparatuses are provided at the receiving end or the sending end of an electric power substation, in order to protect electric apparatus in the electric power substation against the surge voltage incoming from the power transmission lines. In the case where the gap of such a spark gas apparatus is placed in electronegative gas, for example SF.sub.6 gas, the spark voltage vs. spark time characteristic varies depending on the polarity of the surge voltage and thus the protecting performance of the spark gap apparatus is poor. The improvement in the protecting performance of the spark gap apparatus is provided by substantially equilizing the maximum electric field developed between the end surfaces of a pair of electrodes which are oppositely disposed to each other to form a spark gap therebetween.
