    Abstract: An operating position select device has a select lever unit, a mode shift unit to shift operation modes of the automatic transmission, a mechanically connecting means connecting them, and an assist actuator to assist a select lever. A control unit that controls the actuator is electrically connected to an operating position sensor detecting an operating position of the select lever and an operating force sensor detecting operating force acting on the lever. The control unit has an improper halt detecting part detecting the improper halt of the lever between the select positions and an improper halt preventing part preventing the lever from being kept halted improperly between the select positions to provide the lever with adjustment force so that the lever moves to one of the select positions when the improper halt of the select lever is detected during select operation.

    Abstract: A shift lever device is provided that includes a shift lever, an interlocking member movable from a first position to a second position, a detent member that abuts the interlocking member at the first position and restricts the shifting operation if the shift lever is shifted from the parking range position to another range position, a restricting member movable between a shift-lock state and a shift-lock released state for allowing or preventing the interlocking member to move from the first position to the second position; a manual operation mechanism which allows the restricting member to be manually moved from the shift-locked state to the shift-lock released state, and an actuator connecting member that moves integrally with the restricting member due to the operation of an actuator. When the restricting member is placed in a shift-locked state, it can be moved by the manual operation mechanism into the shift-lock released state.

    Abstract: A shift-lever device includes a key lever operating with key-lock mechanism, a sub lever independently rotatably arranged to the key lever and including a pin, a spring arranged to enable the key lever and the sub lever to rotate together, and a lock lever contacting the pin of the sub lever and operating with the key lever. The lock lever operates with the shift-lock mechanism to prevent and allow shifting of a shift lever from a predetermined position. The device also includes a release rod arranged to be operable from outside of the device and serving to rotate the lock lever to rotate the sub lever against the spring independently of the key lever.

    Abstract: A joint structure for a control cable includes an annular cable-end member provided on an end of the control cable, a columnar sleeve arranged in the annular cable-end member and a pair of bushes of the same configuration. Each bush includes an annular part, a cylindrical part, a pair of claw parts and a pair of cradle parts. In this arrangement, the cylindrical part, which is made of elastic material, is inserted between the sleeve and the cable-end member, while a pair of claw parts are engaged with the cradle parts of the opposing bush. The sleeve is provided on the side face with a circumferential bead, interposed between leading ends of the opposing bushes. Even if any force is exerted between the cable-end member and the sleeve, no deformation is caused in the cylindrical parts because of its inelasticity, while the bead prevents relative displacement.

The water stopper member is so arranged and constructed as to positively guide liquid flowing down on and along the shift lever and reached thereto, toward only the first portion thereby to protect the sensitive electric parts from the liquid.

    Abstract: A lock release apparatus includes a gear shift lever assembly including a gear shift lever having a plurality of positions including a parking position, and a detent mechanism shiftable into a detent position wherein said gear shift lever is allowed to move out of the parking position. A lock bushing is supported on the gear shift lever, and has a lock position in which the detent mechanism is prevented from shifting into the detent position and a lock release position in which the detent mechanism is allowed to shift into the detent position. A manual lock release rod is accommodated in a casing secured to the gear shift lever. A screw is fitted into an opening of the casing to prevent an access to the manual lock release, and covered by a lid. The screw is engaged with and disengaged from the opening by using a tool.
