  • Patent number: 5214337
Abstract: An electromagnetic rotary actuator includes a rotor and a stator with two bearings. The rotor, including a plurality of permanent magnets, is arranged between an annular disk of non-permanent magnetic material including a plurality of coils on cores and another annular disk of magnetic material. The rotor includes a central hub arranged between the tow bearings. The actuator includes a resilient washer positioned between one of the bearings and the central hub for eliminating a thrust clearance between the central hub and the other bearing.

Date of Patent: May 25, 1993
    Assignee: Atsugi Unisia Corp.
    Inventor: Takehisa Ishibashi
  • Patent number: 5087868
Abstract: A rotary actuator is designed for rotatingly drive a rotary body, such as a rotary valve member for adjusting damping force to be created by a variable damping force shock absorber. The rotary actuator takes a layout of a permanent magnet and an electromagnet arranged in vertically spaced relationship. Vertical layout of the permanent magnet and the electromagnet reduces plane area required for installation.
