  • Publication number: 20020028593
Abstract: In the plug-side connector structure for high-voltage terminal, the terminal tip of a spark plug can be inserted and fitted into a high-voltage terminal structure very smoothly. The high-voltage terminal structure includes a plug-fit system, and the entire structure is contained in a boot. The plug-fit system includes a tapered guide, which extends outwardly while enlarging in the radial direction of the plug-fit system. The boot includes a terminal enclosure and a glass- or ceramic-portion enclosure, between which a circular recess is provided. The high-voltage terminal structure is thus held in the terminal enclosure by fitting the tapered guide into the circular recess.

  • Patent number: 6273733
Abstract: There is provided a structure of a connecting part between an ignition plug and an ignition cable which makes it possible to make a connection between a connection terminal on the ignition cable and an end terminal on the ignition plug with more reliable security. A first elastomeric bushing is fitted into an upper end side of a plug tube formed of a ceramic material, and a second elastomeric bushing is fitted into the lower end of the plug tube. The portion of the ignition cable K near the high voltage terminal T is held by the first bushing so that the high voltage terminal is held at a predetermined position in the plug tube. Thus, when the second bushing is fitted over an insulator of the ignition plug, the high voltage terminal and the end terminal are secured in a positive electrically connected condition within the plug tube.

  • Patent number: 6206709
Abstract: There is provided a high voltage terminal for an ignition cable with which it is possible to easily mount and more accurately position a spring member which is accommodated in the terminal to provide a more reliable electrical connection with an ignition plug having a generally columnar terminal, such as an end terminal. A spring member is provided at its opposite ends with portions having a larger diameter than the diameter of the intermediate portion in the longitudinal direction thereof. When the spring member is disposed within a terminal of generally tubular shape, a C-ring member having a pair of projections is clipped onto the terminal to extend within apertures in the terminal.

  • Patent number: 6085710
Abstract: A plug boot contains an ignition cable which is fitted with the stud terminal of a spark plug extending from an engine cylinder block. This plug boot is covered with a heat shield, and further with an auxiliary heat shield. The cylinder-side end portion of the auxiliary heat shield is fixed between the spark plug and the cylinder block. The cable-side end portion of the auxiliary heat shield is provided with a lid unit. This lid unit includes a fixing retaining member and a pressing portion. The fixing retaining member fits the lid unit to the auxiliary heat shield, while the pressing portion exerts downward forces on the plug boot. By the combination of fitting forces and downward forces, the ignition cable and the spark plug are reliably connected.

  • Patent number: 5975926
Abstract: The plug connection comprises an elastomeric shroud having a plug-receiving portion through which is connected a spark plug comprising an hexagonal handling nut. A metal shield, comprising a top cover portion and two side-shield portions, covers the elastomeric shroud. When mounted, the side-shield portions surround the plug-receiving portions and form joint seam zones, each having a bottom end portion and a top portion. The bottom end portion of one seam zone includes an opening and the bottom end portion of the other seam zone includes a corresponding tab. The side-shield portions further comprise flanges. When the plug connection is connected to the spark plug, the flanges fit onto the hexagonal handling nut and the opening and tab are loosely fitted, so that the joint seam zones can be spaced apart.
