Patent number: 5329848Abstract: To eliminate wasteful use of thermal stencil paper and thereby provide an inexpensive stamp device, a single thermal head is employed for both the thermal recording on a reversible thermal recording sheet for confirmation of a stamp image and the thermal perforation through the thermal stencil paper for creation of a stamp original. The stamp image is first thermally recorded on the reversible thermal recording sheet; the stamp image thus recorded is then confirmed; and the thermal stencil paper is thermally perforated in accordance with the stamp image to create the stamp original.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tsuneo Yasui, Takemi Yamamoto, Takashi Miki, Tetsuji Fuwa

Patent number: 5111237Abstract: A light-and pressure-sensitive recording sheet and an original, overlapping each other, are introduced into an image forming apparatus, and are exposed to radiation on a transparent drum by means of a light source in the drum, whereupon a latent image, based on the contents of the original, is formed on the recording sheet. Then, the recording sheet is separated from the original by means of a separator, and is passed between a pair of pressure rolls. When the recording sheet is exposed, microcapsules thereon change their hardness. These microcapsules are ruptured selectively by pressure applied to the sheet. As a result, a chromogenic material, contained in the microcapsules, and a developer material, on the surface of a substrate of the recording sheet, react with each other, so that the sheet surface changes its color. Thus, the latent image is developed to accomplish copying in accordance with the original.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1987Date of Patent: May 5, 1992Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takemi Yamamoto, Jun Sakai, Hiroshi Kawahara, Shigeyuki Hayashi, Kenji Sakakibara, Michitoshi Akao, Ichiro Sasaki, Ryohei Komiya

Patent number: 5028954Abstract: An image recording apparatus is provided which automatically controls the temperature and humidity in the region of a photosensitive recording medium. The recording medium carries the indication of its sensitivity characteristic. A detector disposed in the image recording apparatus reads the sensitivity characteristics which may take the form of the bar code or magnetic tape. The detector then sends an output signal, to a controller. At least one of a thermal sensor and a humidity sensor are provided in the passage of the photosensitive recording medium. These elements respectively sense the temperature and humidity and output their detection signals to the controller. The controller then controls a heater and a humidifier to set the optimal temperature and optimal humidity for the passage.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1990Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takemi Yamamoto, Shigeki Ishikawa, Masashi Ueda

Patent number: 5016042Abstract: An image recording apparatus records an image of an original on a photosensitive recording medium using a plurality of intermediate sheets. The image of the original includes a fine line image, such as character, symbol, and a half-tone image, such as picture. To form a latent image of the fine line image on the recording medium, a light sheilding image corresponding exactly to the fine line image is printed on one of the intermediate sheets while completely masking an area where the half-tone image exists. On the other hand, to form a latent image of the half-tone image of a particular color, a light shielding image corresponding to the half-tone image of such a color is printed on another intermediate sheet, and another light sheilding image is printed thereon with a thicker line than the original fine line image. Accordingly, toner powder or ink needed for producing the intermediate sheets can be saved and thus cost for producing the same is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1989Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takemi Yamamoto, Ichiro Sasaki

Patent number: 4992822Abstract: In an optical printing system for printing an image on a recording sheet, adopted as the recording sheet is a sheet coated with microcapsules on one surface thereon. Each microcapsule envelopes a first component which changes color when reacts with a second component. The second component may be coated on the recording sheet or may be coated on a separate developing sheet. The microcapsule further envelopes a third component which varies the mechanical strength of microcapsule when light is projected thereto. An image is formed on the recording sheet by selectively exposing a light thereto in accordance with the image to be printed thereon, and the microcapsules on the recording sheet whose mechanical strength is low are then ruptured by rupturing means. Thereby, the visible image is developed. The exposing is carried out by repeating a predetermined-period exposure at a predetermined interval against the same portion of the recording sheet.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takemi Yamamoto, Koji Kobayakawa, Ichiro Sasaki, Ryohei Komiya, Akira Sago, Izumi Takagi, Jun Sakai, Yumio Matsumoto

Patent number: 4959682Abstract: A copying apparatus operable with an original having an image-bearing surface on which images to be reproduced are supported. A radiation reflected by the image bearing surface is focused on a photosensitive paper, by a self-focusing lens array, so that latent images corresponding to the images on the image-bearing surface are formed on the photosensitive paper. The latent images are developed into visible images by a developing device such as a device adapted to apply a pressure to the photosensitive paper. The photosensitive paper may be a self-activated type having a photosensitive material and a developer material which chemically react with each other in the developing process. Alternatively, a separate developer paper having a developer material is superposed on a photosensitive paper having only a photosensitive material.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1989Date of Patent: September 25, 1990Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takemi Yamamoto, Ryohei Komiya, Naoyuki Hatta, Yumio Matsumoto, Fumihiro Sunda
