  • Patent number: 4640329
Abstract: Radial tires for motorcycles comprising a tread portion, side wall portions, bead portions, a carcass, a breaker, and optionally a reinforcing cord layer arranged outside the carcass and extending from one bead portion to the other bead portion and bead apexes made of a hard rubber, said tread portion having a plurality of longitudinal grooves in the circumferential direction at an angle of at least 5.degree. with respect to the cords of the most outer ply of the breaker. The motorcycle radial tires of the invention have an improved transverse stiffness at the side wall portions and moreover do not cause cracks at the bottom of the grooves in the tread portion.

  • Patent number: 4433480
Abstract: Each ceramic fiber block is temporarily supported by a supporting member and bar combination previously secured to the furnace casing, before it is finally secured to the casing by another supporting member and bar combination. No separate means for holding the block temporarily is required. As ceramic fiber blocks and supporting members are alternately attached to the casing, it is possible to ensure intimate contact between every two adjoining blocks. The absence of any extra work for holding the blocks temporarily improves the efficiency of the block installation work.

  • Patent number: 4362784
Abstract: A packing material for molten contents is composed of a base film coated with a resin (C) containing an ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer (A) having a vinyl acetate content of approximately 5 to 40 percent by weight and a copolymer (B) of either ethylene or an alpha-olefin with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride, having a molecular weight of approximately 2,000 to 20,000, and having the following formula: ##STR1## (wherein R stands for a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having between 1 and 98, carbon atoms, inclusive, and X stands for a residue of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride), in an (A) to (B) ratio between approximately 99:1 and 60:40 by weight or coated with the resin (C) to which a tackifying agent (D) is added in an amount between approximately 3 and 30 percent by weight.

  • Patent number: 4348441
Abstract: Fibrous insulating material consisting of a rectangular or semi-cylindrical block obtained by stacking ceramic fiber blankets or felt in the thickness direction thereof and bonding contact surfaces of adjacent blankets or felt to each other with an adhesive. Such insulating fire material is bonded to the furnace surface such that the bonded surfaces are perpendicular to the wall surface. By using the fibrous insulating material which is ready to handle, it is possible to facilitate and reduce time required for construction of the insulating wall.

  • Patent number: 4290946
Abstract: A process for preparing hexamethyleneimine from hexamethylenediamine, which comprises continuously reacting hexamethylenediamine at about 70 to 180.degree. C. in an inert solvent using a nickel catalyst and/or cobalt catalyst while maintaining the concentrations of hexamethyleneimine and hexamethylenediamine in the reaction mixture at 10% by weight or less and 25% by weight or less, respectively, by removing the hexamethyleneimine from the reaction system as soon as the hexamethyleneimine is formed.

  • Patent number: 4269887
Abstract: A ceramic fiber felt is obtained by mixing alumina crystalline ceramic fibers having at least about 60 weight percent of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, the rest being SiO.sub.2 and impurities, and having a filament length ranging from 10 to 30 mm with aluminosilicate non-crystalline ceramic fiber having from about 40 to 70 weight percent of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, the rest being primarily SiO.sub.2, impurities, and, optionally, including a small amount of metal oxides, and having a filament length ranging from 5 to 30 mm, the weight proportions of the alumina crystalline ceramic fibers to the aluminosilicate non-crystalline ceramic fiber being from about 4:6 to 7.5:2.5, and preferably from about 4:6 to 5:5, and binding the mixture of components with an organic binder. The ceramic fiber felt having a linear percentage shrinkage at 1400.degree. C. of only about 2% is very inexpensive compared to alumina ceramic fiber and is highly suited for use as or in furnace linings.
