  • Patent number: 6665037
Abstract: In an electro-optic device 1, connection to first electrodes 40 of a first transparent substrate 10 extending in one direction from the side, to which signals are inputted, is established through electrical conduction between two substrates in a width-wise central area of the first transparent substrate using first terminals 81. To second electrodes 50 of a second transparent substrate 20 which are routed toward the outer side, signals are directly inputted from second terminals 82. The obliquely routed second electrodes 50 are formed of, e.g., an aluminum alloy film, and slit-like openings are formed in the second electrodes 50 to allow passage of light emitted from a backlight device 9.

  • Publication number: 20030122998
Abstract: A transflective color liquid crystal display device in which fine colors can be displayed in both a reflective display mode and a transmissive display mode. The transflective liquid crystal display device comprises a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer between the pair of substrates; reflective films are provided on an internal surface of a lower substrate which reflects light incident from an upper substrate; color filters provided above the reflective films, each containing a plurality of color layers which have different colors and are disposed to correspond to dots forming a display region; and lighting means provided at the outer surface side of the lower substrate. The dots have a reflective region in which the reflective film is present and a transmissive region in which the reflective film is not present. In addition, the color filters have opening portions in regions that overlap the reflective film in each dot.

  • Publication number: 20030058395
Abstract: A liquid crystal device comprises a pair of substrates 3a and 3b bonded to each other with a sealing member 4, a conductive member 5 disposed in the sealing member 4 in place, a pair of wirings 29b and 33 connected to each other via the conductive member 5 in a conductive area 31 set in the sealing member 4 in place, and a first dummy pattern 34 which runs through the part of the sealing member 4 opposite to the conductive area 31. The cell thickness, which may become uneven due to the wiring 29b and the wiring 33 running through the sealing member 4, is prevented from becoming irregular by providing a first dummy pattern 34.

  • Patent number: 6526933
Abstract: A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine includes an intake manifold having branch pipes connected to one side of a cylinder head and curved to allow the intake manifold to extend to directly above a cylinder-head cover, and intake-side spark plugs and fuel injectors which are incorporated in the cylinder head. The spark plugs are disposed outside a valve train chamber on a side of the valve train chamber where curved portions of the branch pipes are disposed, and the fuel injectors and ignition coils provided above the spark plugs are disposed between the valve train chamber and the curved portions in a direction normal to axes of the cylinders as viewed from a direction in which cylinders are arranged. The ignition coils are disposed so as not to overlap the branch pipes as viewed from a direction in which the ignition coils are attached to the cylinder head.

  • Publication number: 20030011140
Abstract: Disclosed is a metal gasket which is capable of securing a sealing properties by strongly pressing a portion of a bead thereof, which faces a portion where a pressuring surface of one joining surface of one of an intake manifold and an EGR plate does not exist, to the other joining surface thereof. A metal gasket which is clamped between the two joining surfaces and has at least one hole for fluid, includes a bead for sealing the two joining surfaces, the bead surrounding the at least one hole for fluid, each of which allows openings for fluid to be communicated with each other, the openings being provided in the respective joining surfaces. The metal gasket further includes a convex portion, the tip of which abuts one of the joining surfaces, is provided in the vicinity of a portion of the beads abutting the other joining surface.

  • Publication number: 20020118325
Abstract: A liquid crystal device 1 includes a liquid crystal 23 arranged between a first substrate 2 and a second substrate 3. The liquid crystal device has a reflecting conductive film 18 formed on the first substrate 2, a light transmitting metal oxide film 19 laminated on the reflective conductive film 18 so that the edges 34 thereof are in contact with an underlying film 35 or the first substrate 2, and an illumination device 25 for irradiating the liquid crystal 23 with light from outside the first substrate 2. Since the edges are present around the reflective conductive film 18, the area of a light reflecting region contributing to reflection is not changed even when the position of the reflective conductive film 18 is deviated in the transverse direction.

  • Publication number: 20020080319
Abstract: A liquid crystal device comprising a pair of substrates 3a and 3b which are bonded together by a sealing material 2, and a plurality of electrodes 9a and 9b which are formed on the inside surfaces of these substrates. The electrodes 9a have wiring lines 17a and 17b which pass through the sealing material 2 and extend to a substrate projecting part 4a, and dummy patterns 19a which 1pass through the sealing material 2 at the side opposite to the wiring lines 17a and 17b; dummy patterns 19a are formed with a width which is smaller than the width of the electrodes 9a inside the region surrounded by the sealing material 2; preferably, they are formed with the same width as the wiring lines 17a.

  • Publication number: 20010033355
Abstract: In an IC mounting region 70 of a substrate 20 constituting a liquid crystal device, first terminals 91A, 91B, and 91C are divided into a plurality of terminals 911A, 912A, 913A, 914A, 921B, 922B, 921C, and 922C by slits 96 formed of portions where an ITO film forming wiring patterns 91 and the first terminals 91 is not formed. For this reason, when the first terminals 91 and first electrodes 71 are electrically and mechanically connected by an anisotropic conductive film, a resin component contained in the anisotropic conductive film fixedly bonds a driving IC 7 to the second transparent substrate 20 while it enters the slits 96. Since the area of the resin component 61 of the anisotropic conductive film in contact with the first terminals 91 is large, fixing strength of the IC 7 is increased.
