  • Publication number: 20230327541
Abstract: A power converter includes multiple arms, a temperature detector, a voltage detector, a current detector, a heat generation controller, and a heat resistance estimator. Each of the multiple arms includes a target element being a semiconductor element. The heat resistance estimator determines a heat resistance of the target element based on a temperature difference between a first temperature of the target element and a second temperature of the target element, a current through the target element detected by the current detector, and a voltage across conduction terminals of the target element detected by the voltage detector. The first temperature is a temperature detected by the temperature detector in a state where the heat generation controller has not caused the target element to generate heat. The second temperature is a temperature detected by the temperature detector in a state where the heat generation controller has caused the target element to generate heat.

  • Publication number: 20230204675
Abstract: A method for diagnosing a battery pack having a configuration in which a plurality of cells are connected in series uses a system for obtaining detected data including the current and temperature of the battery pack and the voltage of each cell. An electric charge capacity and a state of charge (SOC) of each cell is calculated using the current and the temperature, the voltage of each cell, an open circuit voltage (OCV)-SOC function, and an OCV-resistance table. An amount of unbalance, which is an estimated value of the SOC, and the resistance for each cell when the battery pack is fully charged is calculated; and the energy capacity of the battery pack using the electric charge capacity, the amount of unbalance, and the resistances are calculated. As a result, the energy capacity of the battery pack can be calculated accurately, even in an unbalanced state.

  • Patent number: 10591550
Abstract: A secondary-battery monitoring device includes: a use-state memory device that stores a transition of a load parameter indicating a use state of a secondary battery; and a battery capacity prediction device that predicts a temporal change of a battery capacity of the secondary battery on the basis of a prediction function. The prediction function is derived from a relation between growth of a film formed in an electrode surface of the secondary battery and a reduction of a precursor component of the film which is contained in an electrolyte of the secondary battery. The battery capacity prediction device determines a coefficient of the prediction function on the basis of the transition of the load parameter which is stored in the use-state memory device, and predicts the temporal change of the battery capacity of the secondary battery on the basis of the prediction function which uses the coefficient.

  • Patent number: 10461545
Abstract: In a battery system that connects a plurality of types of batteries through a switch SW, when the switch SW is switched at a voltage (charge rate), it has been possible to increase a stored charge during charging, depending on the DC resistance of the battery. An object of the present invention is to provide switch SW switching control so that the stored charge can further be increased. A first feature of the present invention is to provide a battery system in which a first battery and a second battery are connected in parallel through the switch SW, including an estimator which estimates the charging current by measuring the resistance and OCV of each battery. The battery system can further increase the stored charge by switching to a switch SW combination that can increase the stored charge.
