The sensor unit is provided in a periphery of the display unit, includes a sensor that is capable of detecting a hand of the user that is brought close to or in contact with the sensor due to an action of the user, and performs output based on a detection result of the sensor. The control unit displays an image in the field of view and changes a display state of the image, based on a change in output of the sensor unit. With this configuration, the head-mounted display enables an intuitive operation to be performed using a natural action of the user.
