  • Patent number: 5572656
Abstract: A portrait drawing apparatus having image data input function for allowing the operator to select candidates of facial parts while displaying a draft image of the model to be drawn on the display screen. Comparing the candidates with the draft image makes it easy to select the most appropriate candidate of each facial part as well as to position the selected candidate where appropriate. The apparatus comprises a memory unit for storing facial part candidates with which to construct a portrait, a draft image reader for reading image data from image-bearing materials, a display unit for superimposing the draft image onto facial part candidates, and a selector for selecting the most appropriate candidate of each facial part.

  • Patent number: 4792194
Abstract: An antilock brake device for vehicles including a sensor for sensing the possibility of wheel lock during braking by means of overrunning rotation of a flywheel interlocked with the wheel to produce an output and a hydraulic controller for reducing the braking hydraulic pressure of the wheel brake upon reception of the output from the sensor and increasing the braking hydraulic pressure when the output from the sensor is eliminated. The flywheel and a transmission for transmitting the rotation of the wheel to the flywheel are arranged in the hollow portion of a hub of the wheel. Transmission mechanisms are employed to separate components within the hub to further reduce the overall size of the system. A variety of embodiments also disclose cooperation between front and rear brakes to improve braking response and efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4673221
Abstract: A braking system employing an antilock device which has two brake actuating mechanisms responsive to input hydraulic pressure through the antilock device. Valves are provided in the control mechanism for a second brake actuating mechanism which provide hydraulic cylinders for controlling the brake mechanism. The hydraulic cylinder of such a valve is vented until the controlling hydraulic system reaches a minimum pressure level. This pressure level is determined to be above that of the residual pressure level of the antilock mechanism. In a first embodiment, direct hydraulic control is provided to the multiple brake actuating mechanisms. In the second preferred embodiment, the reaction force to braking of the first brake actuating mechanism controls the brake pressure through a second master cylinder to the second brake actuating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4641731
Abstract: A disc brake assembly for the front or rear wheel of a motorcycle including a brake disc having pairs of projections located on its periphery at 120.degree. intervals. The pairs of projections may be placed on either the outer periphery or the inner periphery of the brake disc. The projections define open ended recesses receiving bosses formed integrally with the wheel hub, and partially surrounded by hardened retainers and structural members. A bolt threaded into each boss prevents disassembly of the bosses and recesses but is not subjected to forces caused by thermal expansion of the brake disc during braking. One or more hydraulically activated stationary calipers clamp non-rotary brake pads frictionally against opposite faces of each brake disc. Provisions are made for cooling the brake disc by atmospheric air.

  • Patent number: 4596312
Abstract: A shielded disc brake system for motorcycles having structure for inducing radial air flow past the brake disc. The device includes an annular passageway between the hub and the shield which may include a centrifugal fan positioned therein. The fan may include passageways between vanes longitudinally aligned with radial passages in the brake disc. The disc itself is mounted about its periphery on bosses extending from the hub. The fan is then bolted to the ends of the bosses to retain the disc from axial movement away from the bosses. Screening members may also be positioned about the periphery of the disc and across inlet ports to provide additional effective closure of the disc brake cavity within the side panel or panels.
