Publication number: 20150123353Abstract: The present invention has an object of providing a spiral gasket that is less influenced by thermal deterioration of a part of members thereof in high-temperature and high-pressure conditions than a conventional spiral gasket and thus is guaranteed to have stable sealing performance for a long time. A spiral gasket includes a sealing portion including a metal hoop member that has a cross-sectional shape including bent parts and is spirally wound around to have a plurality of winds such that the bent parts of the winds overlap one another; and a filler member located between the winds of the metal hoop member in a radial direction. At least a part of the filler member in a spiral direction is formed of a non-iron metal material having high deformability.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2015Publication date: May 7, 2015Inventors: Daisuke Asakura, Takeo Takahashi, Takeshi Miyoshi, Hisashi Maeda

Publication number: 20080107600Abstract: The present invention provides a marker, kit and method for determining the level of axon outgrowth and/or fasciculation, or conditions, disorders or diseases associated with the level of axon outgrowth and/or fasciculation. The present invention was achieved by unexpectedly finding the relationship between DISC1 and FEZ1 and KIAA0844 and unexpectedly finding that axon outgrowth and/or fasciculation are not normally conducted if the normal binding therebetween was inhibited. Therefore, the present invention relates to an agent specifically interacting with DISC1 and a gene product thereof, an agent specifically binding FEZ1 and a gene product thereof, an agent specifically binding FEZ1 and a gene product thereof, and an agent specifically binding KIAA0844 and a gene product thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2004Publication date: May 8, 2008Inventors: Taiichi Katayama, Takeshi Miyoshi, Masaya Tohyama, Kousuke Baba, Akiko Honda

Publication number: 20030193147Abstract: The present invention relates to a filler material (1) for a spiral wound gasket, and to a spiral wound gasket (W) using the fillermaterial (1). The fillermaterial (1) and the spiral wound gasket (W) according to the invention can be applied to various pipe joints and a joint portions of fluid equipments for sealing fluid such as liquid and gaseous body. The filler material (1) of the invention is obtained by removing, by blast treatment, a high density portion on a front surface (2A) or a back surface (2B) of a tape-like expansive graphite tape (2) formed by integrally pressurizing expanded graphite particles. The spiral wound gasket (W) is obtained by overlapping the filler material (1) and a hoop material (5) made of metal band plate with each other and winding them in the form of a spiral. The spiral wound gasket (W) is superior in productivity, and in flexibility, bending property and pliability, and exhibit excellent sealing property even at a low surface pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 1998Publication date: October 16, 2003Inventors: HIDETO HASHIGUCHI, TAKAHISA UEDA, TAKESHI MIYOSHI

Patent number: 5749586Abstract: A gasket for use in sealing sanitary piping comprises an annular plate of porous polytetrafluoroethylene, the inner surface layer of the gasket being heat treated to form a pore-free fused solidified layer for directly contacting a fluid to be sealed. The fused solidified layer prevents osmotic leakage of sealed fluid. Since the solidified layer is formed only in the surface layer the intrinsic properties of porous polytetrafluoroethylene, such as flexibility and affinity, are retained. The gasket is made by inserting a tubular member with an internal heater into a porous polytetrafluoroethylene gasket so that the tubular member directly contacts the inner surface layer of the gasket. The tubular member is operated at a temperature of 420.degree. to 460.degree. C. and contacts a gasket for 10 to 30 seconds to form the fused and pore-free layer.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1996Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Nippon Pillar Packing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Makoto Abe, Katsuo Wada, Takeshi Miyoshi, Tosiyasu Tanimura, Tetsuya Akai

Patent number: 5454604Abstract: A vortex gasket for automotive exhaust system, preferably used with a special flange having a conical seal surface, is formed by spirally overlaying a metal hoop (2) of flat strip, and an inorganic filler (3) of tape form, and annularly spot welding a winding start portion (2a) and a winding end portion (2b) of the hoop (2) to itself. The tape form of the inorganic filler is wider than the flat strip of the metal hoop so that edges of the inorganic filler form seal contact surfaces spaced beyond edges of the metal hoop. When an external force is applied in the axial direction, slipping occurs between the hoop (2) and the filler (3), and the gasket is telescopically deformed in the axial direction, so that the seal contact surfaces 1a, 1b, at sides of the gasket, are formed in a conical shape.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1994Date of Patent: October 3, 1995Assignees: Toyoda Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Nippon Pillar Packing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Yahagi, Masahiko Takaoka, Shingo Hoshikawa, Takeshi Miyoshi, Keiji Okada

Patent number: 5188376Abstract: The packing according to the present invention is composed of a string-like body formed of an elongated tape-like packing material having at least one layer is repeatedly folded in direction at a right angle to the longitudinal direction thereof in a zigzag manner with peak portions and valley portions alternately formed. According to the packing, the string-like body cut into a predetermined length according to the diameter of a shaft with which it is to be used may be wound on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft with the width or thickness direction of the string-like body directed in the radial direction of the shaft. Thus, the packing is versatile with respect to the shaft diameter. The packing itself produces no slip in the axial direction of a shaft. This prevents the packing from protruding, thus eliminating stress release due to a decrease in volume. The packing is used with the string-like body folded in the three-dimensional directions.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1991Date of Patent: February 23, 1993Assignee: Nippon Pillar Packing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takahisa Ueda, Shuzo Konaka, Takeshi Miyoshi
